Anybody seen this kid play? I remember a not-to-be-mentioned website featuring him as THE TRUTH last year. He's on SI's cover and only 16. From YouTube he looks like a full grown man. Of course, only time will tell if he's the real deal. Baseball success is so hard to predict - especially once pitchers find a hole in your swing. Right, Francoeur?

Here's SI's story on this kid:

I have seen him and he is as good as advertised and has performed with the added pressure. He should be a good one!!

But Francoeur is playing in the majors and making adjustments. Not to mention Bryce is a catcher that has hit some balls 500'+. Then there is that part of having a FB clocked at 96mph.

He is trying out for the 18U USA Baseball team. I don't know whether that will affect his ability to come in and play in one of the Perfect Game Tournaments at EC this year or not.

He is listed on the San Diego Show Roster and will be at East Cobb 7/7/2009 - 7/13/2009 for the 2010 Grads or 17u National Championship http://www.worldwoodbat.com/TournamentDetails.aspx?id=381.

And for AllStar he is on the USSSA lists from the time he was 11U:

I've seen Bryce play several times through the years. I first saw him as a 10 year old in a world series we played in Vegas. Everyday we would go to the batting cage before we played and their would be Bryce and his dad Ron in the cage. Ron was throwing as hard as he could to this little 10 year old and Bryce was pounding almost ever pitch. We were also in Alabama when he went 12 for 12 with 11 homeruns and a double. What the article didn't tell you is that 5 of those home runs cleared the 300' fence and sailed into the parking lot. In the one game Bryce pitched, I saw the gun when they clocked this then 12 year old at 82, 82 & 83. One of the most impressive things to me was how he sprinted to 1st base every time he was intentionally walked which happened a lot. He ran down the line like he was running out a ground ball, every time. Bryce isn't only a great player he is also a great kid and has the work ethic like no one I've ever seen. He has such a passion for the game and I for one wish this kid all the best. I'll tell you this, if anyone can live up top the hype, Bryce can...he's been doing for year.
If Bryce does play at East Cobb this summer, take your son to watch him. He'll see how the game is suppose to be played and see someone with a heart and passion for the game like no one I've ever seen before.

Having had a son that has played with and against Bryce, he is for real and has been since 11U. There are not very many people that can say they have winning records against him or the teams he has played for, but my son can. As late as last year. If you ever get the chance to watch him, he was at EC last and will be again this year. Great kid, great player.

For those who are interested, Bryce is also listed on the San Diego Show 18U squad's roster and they're in town starting tomorrow (Tuesday, June 30th).

He is still in North Carolina. We went to the San Diego Show game today and found out that he will be joining the team on Friday. I do not know if he will play in the Friday game or not. The person we spoke with did not know the answer to that question.

motown,
He will not be playing Thursday at Southern Tech, according to what we were told yesterday at the game. The young man we spoke with was the younger brother of one of the players. He just said, "He'll be here on Friday." As I stated before, I don't know if that means he'll make it in time for the game on Friday or whether he won't play until Saturday.

Can anyone confirm that he will be playing tomorrow (Saturday). I will be passing through the area and I'm considering stopping in to watch him.

Rumor in the dugout is that he does not plan on showing until Play-offs start.

No show on Sat. morning. Asked one of the kids on the team if he was as good as everyone says he is and he said he is in BP, but pretty much said not so much in a game. Said he may be here next week for the 17u tournament. Who knows?
