Water issue addressed by Lake Point. If you request, a water cooler with cups will be provided at no charge. Here's a link to the announcement.

Oh they'll give you the water cooler with cups......but the water is warm. If you want ice in your water cooler, it is an additional $10. That's right. $10 for a bag of ice. A friend wanted a baggie of ice for her son's shoulder after he pitched. They would not give it to her. Another team mom tried to bring in a small cooler with iced washcloths for the players on her team and after arguing with them, they escorted her to the dugout to make sure it was really for the team. It was 92 degrees that day. There is no telling how hot it was on the turf field, even with the cooling system. It is a very nice park, but I am disappointed with some of their policies. It's a money grab. |

Boy, with all these complaints, I'm glad my son is past all this and I don't have to buy him a couple $2 waters during a game with a bunch of scouts and recruiters!! Just can't imagine that.
Wait... I had to do that at almost every park we ever played at!! In fact, I went to my 6 yr old nephew's all-star tournament last weekend and payed $5 to get in to see one, 1 hour game and I paid ... $2 for a bottle of water!! Oh my. |

These rules have been around at most of the tournaments for a long time and simply were not being enforced. It will soon spread to the other parks as well. They obviously have to find a way to pay for those facilities but there should be a better answer than water and ice. |

All of the complaints are pretty interesting. You have to ask yourself would you rather play on garbage fields with horrible bathrooms and rundown fences, dugouts, trash everywhere, etc. The term "you get what you pay for" is appropriate here. Does anyone think that this facility was built for free? Pretty sure it wasn't. |

Yes. No metal cleats. Molded cleats seem best. |

Any of you going to any PG events at Lake Point (or anywhere else for that matter) should go to each of the websites and read them to make sure you are prepared. On the bottom of the Lake Point website, there is a link called "policies". Click on it and read it. Go to the PG website and it will say - in red - "no metal cleats are permitted on Lake Point or Home Plate fields". It's not a bad idea to do this any time you are playing in a tournament, but I think both these websites have done a good job of posting what you need to know. Perfect Game in particular. You will be able to look up your schedule, follow scores, find out what fields you are scheduled to play on, etc...

Good luck to all of you playing in the WWBA events coming up. It really is a great experience!! |

The entire facility (baseball fields, soccer fields, lacrosse fields, sand volleyball courts, etc) are first class. There are definitely no shortcuts when being built. I know there will be some getting used to the rules but to have an awesome place to play, everything can't be free, and must be maintained. The great part about the turf fields is you will be able to play 20 minutes after it stops raining. No dragging, applying turfus, etc. With the number of back to back games being played, spikes appear to give the turf a beating, particularly the mounds. I know we have played down at the field in Peachtree City and had to use turf shoes, and it worked out just fine. I think most players are just playing in turfs and not going out and buying molded cleats.
Eventually they will have video recording each field and will probably have that available for viewing if you are not on-site. That will be awesome.

Note entirely true. You can use molded cleats, so turfs, tennis shoes and molded cleats.
Definitely get a pair of the cleats. On first couple of days of 15U WWBA, you could easily see the difference between players with molded cleats having traction vs. those with turfs/tennis shoes sliding all over. In a rundown, you won't have a chance. Also a lot of feet sliding out on some swings.
By the end of the week, almost all players were wearing molded cleats. Probably a good week for Dick's, Sports Authority and Academy Sports. |

The kids/players need to smuggle their drinks into the park in their bags. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome. |
