I am a mom going to Cooperstown with my son. He will be staying at the park with the coaches. Where is a cheep place to stay for one parent? I just can't justify paying $850-$1000 just for me to stay somewhere. The other parents on the team are with their other children or their husbands.

There's a Best Western, nearly next door to the park (near the grocery store, McDonalds and small strip mall about a mile from the entrance). Not sure what the rates are, but I stayed there one night out of three different trips and it would have been fine for a week. The Best Western's in the NE are a good bit nicer than the those you'll find around here. Here's a link to their site.

The only way you are going to save money at all would be to stay with another family. Hotel rooms are not cheap there. You might be able to find a one bedroom tiny place for around $700 but can't imagine anything cheaper than that except for staying with someone. If you are friends with any of the coaches' families that would be a good option since their wifes and any other kids will have to stay somewhere. Hope this helps a little.

If you are a camper there are campgrounds nearby. That would be the least expensive route.

My wife stayed in a 1 bed/1bath efficiency attached to another house since I was in the barracks. It was only $500 since two of our families were renting the main house. Otherwise it's $650.

We stayed at the Pathfinder Lodge. It was awesome! It was appx 170$ for the week. It is a church retreat camp. You get a big comfy bunk and a nice size shower. Ots set up for a church retreat business, but in the summer we were there we had most of the camp to ourself. Though it was nice having folks around too. Its of the downtown area of CT. We had a blast. It is right on the lake. We brought the kids nack for some fishing and swimming. The folks are awesome.
