My son(10)plays rec ball thru May and 11u AAA travel tournaments in June. Is he restricted to playing within an age group or skill level if he wanted to sub or play in just a couple of tournaments on a travel team when he has the time to play during the spring ?

Hope that makes sense, thanks

He can play up at any age that will have him. He cannot play at an age below his age as of May 1, 2013.

So basically, if he will be 10 or younger on May 1, 2013, he can play on any team that plays between 10u and 18u. He cannot play on a 9u or younger team.

If he happens to turn 11 on May 1 or earlier this year, then he can play on teams between 18u and 11u and nothing younger.

USSSA has specific rules now about teams and individuals being on different age rosters, so you'll want to look closely at those rules if the team(s) he's playing on are participating in USSSA tourneys.

So he qualifies as a 10 year old. So he could play (be on the roster) on a 11u AAA, a 10u AAA, and a 12u AAA team all at the same time with the possible exception of USSSA.
