We are looking for information about Cooperstown NY and your experinces, if you would like to share it with us it would be greatly appreciated. We welcome any and all information or advice. You can post a reply or drop me an email.
Here are the areas which we need more information on. Do you know of a realitor? What is the best way of renting? Which locations are better to stay in? Are appartments better than houses? Does the traffic get heavy at different times?
Again, we would appreciate your input and advice. Please do not hesitate to email me. bbaseball040@gmail.com
Thank you! |

This topic has been covered extensively in recent years on this forum. Below are links to threads on this forum answering most of your questions. Start by reading these for a lot of info on the trip.
As far as traffic, the only place that it will get congested is downtown. No real high and low point. If you're used to Atlanta traffic, it's nothing like that. It can get difficult finding a parking spot along the main downtown drag around lunch and dinner, so you may have to park on a side street. Games are always going at the park from 8:00 am till around 9:00 pm (or 2 am depending on weather), so with 22 fields, at any time there's 44 teams playing, and another 88 teams just finishing or warming up, so it definitely helps balance the crowds downtown.

As far as a house vs. apartment, likely to be personal preference. Many families share a house. Depends on siblings, etc. Since the coaches stay in the dorms, many of the coaches families will share a place. Remember, the boys can be checked out some nights (completely at coaches discretion), so consider that you may want enough room for player to spend a night or two. There are a couple of links good for finding a place to stay:

We stayed at an Inn right in the middle of town...worked out well. There's also a large classy upscale hotel in town that we would have stayed at if we knew of it. It's pricey, but my wife went gaga over it, so I'd have spent the dough if I had to do it all over again. It's right on the lake. Even if you don't stay there, seek it out for a daylight meal out on their veranda overlooking the lake. You'll score big points with the Mrs.
Traffic...non-issue. The entry gate backs up at times, but no biggy
Beware..some of the rental homes are farther away than advertised. They try to make them sound like they are close, when in fact they are a 30+ minute ride to the venue. Ask for street address, then mapquest it to the park address to make sure.

save yourself all the guess work and stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It is very nice close to the park and truthfully all the good eats are on that main street going into Cooperstown! |
