If my son swings a 30/20 Easton Stealth (yes the evil red bat) what size/weight wood bat would this compare to? Team entering a wood bat tourny and he has never swung a wood bat and would like to get him one for practices. Also any type of wood bat better then other as far as performance and durability? Thx and have a Grateful Day!!!
Pretty much none. You're talking about a -10 and most wood bats are in the -3 to -5 range. You can get senior big barrel wood bats from D-Bat and those are around -8, but about the best you're going to find in youth wood bats is between -5 and -7.
If you're kid's swinging a -10, I assume he has a lot of room to grow. I wouldn't invest a whole lot in any wood bats for him now. Go find a 29" or 30" youth wood bat for the upcoming tournament and be done with it. He'll likely outgrow it long before breaking it. I wouldn't spend more than $50. To invest in a bamboo or composite wood would be a waste of your money at this time.
