Just left 6u-8u usssa world series in McDonough! Gate fee for 6 year old child $5 a day and $8 for 15 and up. Absolutely no outside coolers in this heat! RIdiculous!
Understand the $8 for adults but a $5 for a 6 yo sibling or cousin is just too much! And with the heat everyone should be able to bring cooler with water!
try 15 for adults and 10 for kids per day at the Global World Series in Gulf Shores last week. Tourn pass for adult for the 4 days was 35. And no coolers allowed other than 2 team coolers. Cooler police were out in force. Ridiculous. Had to be at a min 80k charged in gate fees as my tourn pass was above #2300. Yikes
Some upstart is going to start offering tourneys without gate fees and give out actual trophies to the players. The big tourney players are getting greedy and complacent. It's not exactly rocket science to run a decent tourney and plenty of money can be made without charging increasingly ridiculous gate fees.

My suggestion is to bring a cooler in your car and make trips back to your car to get what you need. I do this sometimes because I am sick of the rip off from these tournaments. My family comes to support our two boys who play baseball but too much money is spent when we are already paying for the boys to play baseball.
Hey Chris, A couple of the umps at the Grand Slam World Series in PCB kept their cooler on the field, against the fence along the 1B line. I asked the ump if he was going to leave the cooler there or move it into a dugout or on the other side of the fence and he said it was staying where it was. I asked what the call will be when my catcher trips over it trying to catch a pop-up and he said it was gear like any other gear on the field. He also was not concerned when I asked what would happen if a player broke a leg triping over his cooler. Thoughts on ump coolers being on the field??

My thoughts and what I do: They shouldn't be. Talk to the manager whose teams is in the 1B dugout, ask him if he doesnt mind you tucking it under the bench, out of the way. Keeps it colder longer and out of the way...and usually some good playful banter with the kids if you have to go get something between innings.

Yes all of that is a bit ridiculous. Plus now being down here this week, now it rained this morning and they called off all games today. So instead of a GUARANTEED 6 games in a double elimination tournament. Now we are down to 4 games and a consolation bracket. They aren't even trying to work in the games..........
