Wow. I have been going to tournaments at East Cobb for several years now and have never had, nor would I , stand in four inches of poop. Don't think that is something I would admit to. |

Food great. Fields beautiful. Bathrooms old but okay but this was at 5:30 Pm On a Friday. Scoreboard laughable. Umps missed a couple blatant things. Didn't matter. We were gettin our hineys handed to us. Thought it was ridiculous that both teams had to roll up the mound and plate covers and move them. Parking lot not big enough. I can see how things will really be trashed by Sunday/Monday. Understaffed? |

Why not help the economy and hire a few teenagers to tidy up the place on a regular basis? |

I realize that this doesn't cover malfunctioning scoreboards which certainly should be covered by incredibly exorbitant gate fees, but, from the ECB website and concerning cleanliness of facilities "parents of the players are expected to help with everything from scorekeeping to emptying trash. During tournaments, it is always the host team’s responsibility to take care of these things as well as get the fields ready to play." |

Enough on ECB scoreboards and bathrooms guys. There is no excuse for either one of them...A facility like ECB should just replace the score boards, they definite make the money from the tournaments and the kids paying $2k plus to play on their teams. My son worked out there during the winter and the bathrooms were a mess the entire time...That is just nasty and they should correct that ASAP. CoachDad, it is not the ECB team parents responsibilty to clean anything or empty trash cans at that park..Teams do not receive a dine of the tournament profits. ECB has a full staff working there, this is not a small pak where everyone chips in...ECB is a business and all about the money.

bigroc19 This is not a slam but you are misinformed BIG TIME....Teams (Host) do receive a portion of the profits...A large portion....That is why you have a "host" No excuse for the mess though.

The tournament host at ECB pockets the gate fee money. It's a lot of money. |

Yeah, Centennial's problem is they don't have a bathroom close by.
However, that does not excuse ECB for their sins. Is there something wrong with saying that a facility should host top notch teams AND have clean facilities with scoreboards working? I don't think so. When I have been there, I always see guys driving around in carts emptying trash and the bathrooms haven't been that bad. However, I have been attending games at fields 1,2 & 3 for the past 5 years. Not sure what's going on down at the younger fields. The scoreboards have not consistently worked down there for the last 9 years - at least. I, personally, think that is inexcusable. If the bathrooms are as bad as some are saying, that too is inexcusable. There is more to being a world class facility than hosting events that bring top notch teams.
ECB is not a local rec park where you depend on the city or county to take care of a broken scoreboard. It is not a local HS field that doesn't want to give tournaments access to their scoreboard. They own and operate their own facility and have TOTAL control and responsibility over everything that goes on there. They should address these issues.
If my understanding is correct, ECB only gets $125 per player plus what they make on sales of uniforms plus money from organizations hosting their tournaments there. If a team charges $2,000 to play for a season, ECB still only gets $125. If they don't have the money to fix the scoreboards, charge $150 for the priviledge to play there and get the darned boards fixed. I just went over and counted - there are currently 93 teams playing out of ECB. Say an average of 15 kids per team times $25, in one year, they can raise $34,879 just from this increase. That should be enough to at least fix the scoreboards. Over 2 or 3 years, they should be able to replace every scoreboard there. They have had many years to do this and have not done it. It really is irritating. |
