Good points.. all I know is I am going to have my son ready when he misses a ball to either pretend a bug flew in his eyes or the sun/lights were in his eyes. Does running across the outfield on a choppy ground constitute an error? I am just wondering where it becomes the players fault.
Last one I promise. Same scenario as initial one about first baseman missing ball on what should have been infield fly. No lights no sun, but a parent from the other team screams... miss it... error or hit? any different from the lights or act of God?

On our team it is always an error if it is not the scorekeepers son. And their friends? Take the number of errors and divide by two.
