Not talking about the two top dogs but to all the other TD's out there. Keep your scores current even on Sunday. Move your teams through the brackets - even on Sunday. Teams not only pay for the entry fee but also the now standard gate fee. This is a source of income for someone. Do it right and update the scores and brackets until ALL games are played. There are some of us interested in how ALL teams in our age group are doing, not just our team. We LIKE to see who won the tournament we paid to play in. Come on!
Now, back to your regular programming... |

I agree also. Another pet peeve I have is when some of these TD's split bracket play so much. I can understand when you have a 12 to 14 team open tournament and you split it for classification purposes. But when that split brings you down to 6 or 7, dont split it again in to a gold and silver. Many times we sign up in tournaments because of the large field of teams only to have then come in and do a last minute split. |

I'll third the motion. No excuse whatsoever, nowadays, for not updating scores within minutes of game completion and throughout the entire tourney. |

I agree 100%....this is 2012 not 1980.
Just about everyone has a smartphone, Ipad or laptop these days so there really is no reason for updates not to be up to the minute. We shell out a LOT of money to play and it seems like its not a lot to ask for!

Honestly, if posting scores is the biggest gripe, you guys are getting it pretty good here - play in SC or NC and you'll find plenty of worse offenses, like where you have to wait until Thursday morning just to get a schedule because the TD's from competing organizations keep trying to steal teams from each others tournaments. You play on rock hard fields because they rake the field one time, the night before and play ball all day on it. You pay $12-15 in gate fees, no coolers allowed, outrageously priced concessions, no working scoreboards, no bathroom facilities at the fields, back to back game scheduled at different parks,"official tournament results" not posted for several days after tournament, I can go on and on. Not every tournament is like this, but enough to know. BUT, they post the scores on their site after every game through the championship.

I never really understood why teams don't just play more non-tournament games. My son's 11 YO team played 54 games and at least 40% of them were just single games/doubleheaders, 3 team round robins.
In retrospect, we should have done more. Once school ends, there should be a lot of field time, especially on the county fields. I don't know how much High Schools charge, and I know they are getting used more than they used to during the off season, but that would seem like a good alternative as well. Lots of really nice fields just standing empty.
Then you control all these logistics that are such an issue as well as managing your costs.
I tried to do that, but had trouble getting opponents to come to our place even when I offered to do a home and home, or if they didn't have fields, let them be the home team. It actually seemed like teams thought it didn't count if you weren't playing for some of that awesome bling. :) |

We spoke with a few area teams about doing things like this before back a ways - 3 or 4 teams, split the cost of the field and the officials, and do some grilling after the games... That to me is much more what it should be about anyway, provided everyone gets along of course... |

Probably because of us (me) complainers it takes too much to put one together!
I think it's a great idea but as the players get older, it's more about bragging rights than bling. We are genuinely interested in following teams that we know. We spend way more time than we should looking at tournaments not only that our son is in but our friends' players are in as well. We like seeing the teams we respect playing well (and the teams we don't... well we like to see what they are doing as well.)
For me, Rammann999, there are more complaints such as you have described that follow all tournaments - some can be overcome and some are just downright ridiculous (non working bathrooms - or worse yet - no tp in the bathrooms). Brackets are just one of those customer service and customer experience items a TD should do and doesn't really cost anything extra for them to do, even if it's a day later to post final brackets - do post them. |

I love Tony, but it better be bragging rights. I've seen Triple Crown's bling...
You can still play a couple or three teams on a weekend and get bragging rights without having to get up at 5:30 AM to drive to Suwanee. (Or from Suwanee to May-retta.)

Please tell me what's in Sywanee that anyone would get up at 5:30 for. |
