On the gausssa website, it states that there will be 2 berths for 9U-13U Major teams to go to the Elite 32. Is this true? Georgia has only been able to offer 1 berth in the past. Bubba, please confirm.

This is the email I received today from UTrip

Coaches:

I trust this email finds everyone fully recovered from the holidays and gearing up for the baseball season! As we continue the Coaches Conference Tour every weekend throughout January in to February the need has arisen to communicate a few extremely important details about the 2012 Atlanta Super NIT.

First and foremost, the 9U-13U Major divisions will be awarding two (2).that's right.two (2) berths to the Elite World Series at ESPN's Wide World of Sports at Disney! Once again all Junior Divisions and A, AA & AAA divisions will award a FREE State Tournament berth to any Georgia team that wins their division.

The most important information to relay is the change in available entry spots. In years past we had an almost unlimited availability of spots but several playing venue options are no longer available thus creating a need to limit entries. Below is a list of maximum entries by division / classification.

Junior Divisions - 12 teams MAXIMUM per age per class
Single-A Divisions - 12 teams MAXIMUM per age
Double-A Divisions - 24 teams MAXIMUM per age
Triple-A Divisions - 24 teams MAXIMUM per age
Major Divisions - 24 teams MAXIMUM per age

The above limits are firm and cannot be altered.even by one single team. With this stated, teams need to react now! Visit the Georgia USSSA Baseball state web site and click on the Atlanta Super NIT icon at the top of the page. Online entry takes less than two minutes. Once a division is full.it's full and will not expand!

wonder how firm they will be on the 24 team max cause the 12's already have 25 signed up. Think it was a trick to make teams sign up early?

We were at the first USSSA coaches' meeting, and they made it very clear it was a firm 24 cap with no exceptions, so register and pay asap.

Years past GA USSSA has always posted a max number of teams allowed but it's never held. When the money starts rolling in they always seem to find some trashy fields to play more games on. If they allow more than the max to enter and teams have to play games at various Henry county city dump sites then it may be time to force utrip's hand and make them pay for it.

How do usssa place teams in pools? Based on points? With 32 teams would pool A have team 1 9 17 25? Or do they set it to help certain teams?

Their max teams was for the age group. They are pulling from the other divisions in each age group that arent filling up. Heard they are fixing to cut classes in other ages too and move them to the ones that are filling. One of the organizations in our county has it on their web that it will happen on the 27 th and warning everyone to enter by friday or the class may be reduced.

The tournament is not until the middle of March. I don't understand the panic from USSSA for everyone to pay now. The tournament will fill up by mid February.

I don't understand. If say by Friday the 27th 9AAA only has 5-10 teams signed up they will combine with 9AA who might have 12 signed up? Or they will just get rid of the 9AAA all together? Whats the rush?

The way it looks, they are just reducing the availables slots for the age group, like down to 8 from 12. And shifting those 4 slots to the classification that can fill them, still keeping both classifications, but just expanding one and shrinking the other. Thats what was done in 12u, they reduced the other classes to get the additional 8 slots.
