The city of Emerson approved the lakepoint sport's incentive package 22 days ago. The plan, at this time, is first pitch spring of 2013.

How are the fields progressing on this one? I know it was originally to be ready for some games in 2012 and now that has been moved to spring 2013...

It is quite over there. I keep hoping. Our kids are at the right age to enjoy it. I talked to them. They will provide a place for tourneys to start no teams. I hope they will provide a place to practice during the week. They havent started when they were suppose too.

Returning from a weekend in the North GA mountains, I decided to hop off at the Emerson exit and take a look at the progress (or lack thereof) of LakePoint Sports.

There is a beautiful mobile home/business office/marketing department sitting atop a hill overlooking the site. It also overlooks the Love Truck Stop. The trailer looks very nice and has immaculate landscaping all around. Very nice sign with Bobby Cox as you enter the parking lot/turn around.

Unfortunately, unless you want to play ball in the trailer or parking lot, nothing else appears to have been done. It reminds me of the subdivisions that broke ground and put up the real estate trailer right before the market burst and has been sitting vacant since. No progress on an actual park has begun. The latest info is about 2 months old and has them slated to begin moving earth next month (about 9 months later than originally planned).

The spokesman claims that they're a victim of their own growth (over-scope?), but history tells us they're likely a victim of under financing.

I hope this gets off the ground and in use soon. Anyone with any inside knowledge know more than what's published?

They need to apply for some of that Obama "stimulus" money. If it's going to create 26000 jobs. Isn't that what it was designed for?

I drive by Signature Park several times per week. Looks like work is going on, but hard to see from the road. Does anyone know the ETA for opening?
Does not say on the web site.

Here is a quote from Jerry Ford, owner of Perfect Game from another website:

"It is scheduled to be open for the 2014 season. Official ground breaking in late Sept of this year."

There you go, from the horses mouth.
