Lets just get it ALL out! What are some things you CAN'T stand?

1) Rain outs
2) Bad calls/umps
3) Kids that throw complete fits on the field
4) Coachs that yell "step" in pitchers wind up
5) Paying up front gate fee or any gate fee
6) Water fountains that don't work

I know this list can get HUGE! And yes I'm sure boomboxs will be added...lol

Lame hotdogs bother me!
Two bucks or two fifty for a sorry mystery meat turkey gut sorry sausage is a joke!
Kudos to that tourney in Sparta a few weeks back that served Nathan's jumbo franks grilled (no nukes) to perfection!
I think a thread that lists best and worst concession stands would be useful.

Nasty bathrooms.
Coaches that want to argue with you outside the fence after the game.
Me blowing a call.
Foul balls that never make it back.
Coaches that want to know where every pitch was.
Poor sportsmanship.
Irate parents that yell back and forth to each other.
Making things personal.
Hearing 10 people yell Balk.
Kids that fling their bats or helmets in the dugout after getting rung up.
Being told that "you s--k" or "you cost me the game" when getting the scorecard signed.
Hearing players get on each other instead of picking the others up when an error is made.
Everyone forgetting that everyone is human.
Parents that think when a ball hits homeplate it is a foul ball.
Fellow umpires that move like turtles on the field.
Fields that are not prepped between games.
Dirt infields.

Thats enough..I will stop. The good thing is that the "What I love about travel baseball" list would be much longer.

When they try to sell you a $5 shirt for $20??? I'll pay $10 but not $20! I'll just wait till I see that shirt being sold for $5 at another tournament....lol

As a family we love the travel baseball community and almost everything that comes along with it....but here a few things we could do without

1. Coaches that encourage chants of opposing pitchers_yes, we are a younger age group
2. Boomboxes-absolutely ridiculous
3. Paying $350 for tourney fees for a complex with 2 batting cages for 6 fields
4. Gate fees....charge $100 per team and let the whole family come watch, TD's can make up for it in concession sales

WestCoastGuru, whats even worse is paying all that money and there's NO batting cages! Fairly common over here..

We're 1 for 4 on tournaments with an actual working scoreboard so far this year. $350 - $450 and we have to keep score in the books or with dirt tally marks. :)

Stinger - thanks for bringing up a good topic. The ballpark hotdog SHOULD be a delight - not something that has to be choked down. Loved it.

Parents and coaches that argue balls and strikes from 1st base or 3rd base. Coaches that call balks instead of saying back or secondary while coaching a base. Teams that aren't ready to play 5 minutes before game time. (Unless they have just finished a game on another field.) Teams that are not coached to hustle at all times.

Coaches whom waste time towards the end of a game so their team beats the time limit and they can take home a trophy !

- People that gripe about boomboxes (LOL, just kidding folks)
- Coaches that forget they are coaching kids
- Umpires with chips on their shoulders
- People who sit on our side of the field and cheer for the other team
- People who take travel ball too seriously
- Players that scream at the top of their lungs when the opposing pitcher is in his motion
- Paying to watch my own son play ball after spending thousands to support him in the first place
- 8am game times
- 9pm game times
- South Atlanta traffic
- Cobb traffic

Maybe coaches that say balk are saying it because the umpire wont call them?? We play at the 11U major level and that is WAY TOO LATE to teach kids about balks....When we played at the 9U level I believe more balks were called. The boys that balk don't need a warning they need some coaching. Chris, are you the kind of umpire who lets the boys balk continuously? Some umpires will say, "they are 11 coach"...but that is besides the point, if balks are not correctly called coaches cannot correctly teach base runners to get leads or steal. No offense to any umpires but calling balks should be a part of the game like balls and strikes IMO..

Game time limits that even in a low scoring pitchers duel won't result in a complete game. Umpires that don't count warm up pitches because they are talking to each other and too much time is wasted in between innings when the time limit is too short to begin with...

Coaches that yell out to young pitchers to "throw strikes" or to young batters to "hit the ball". Don't you think they would if it were that simple?

having to pay for siblings to attend games... games starting on Thursday instead of Friday... having to driving to differents parks for each game... 3 game Guarantees that not guaranteed...parents or fans having to work the scoreboard... no coolers... games starting before 6 pm on weekdays... teams stalling during timed games... big tournaments at parks with terrible fields

--No crowd protection from foul balls. Fields that are packed together that fb's come from all directions. Parks should look at Midway's fields with cover everywhere. Not so much worried about me as the little kids.
--Opposing teams fans with an all out song/chant putting our team down. The responses get nasty.
--GOING HOME EARLY
--Stale Nachos and not enough cheese!

Cow bells

- I did politely talk to the TD after a Natioons tournament ealry this spring about a group of parents with cow bells. he emailed me later that week to say that cow bells were no longer allowed at his tournaments. That went a long way in my book.

Real Daddyball

The way anything that doesn't pan out with little Johnny batting 4th and playing SS (when he's not pitching) being called Daddyball.

As someone else said, the pluses outweigh the bad.
