I do not have a kid in high school yet, but attend as many local high school games as I can just because I'm a baseball junkie. I have seen most, not all, but most high school teams running sprints as a team after the game. They do it win or lose and home or away. What is the point of this? Just curious. |

Our team generally has only the pitchers that pitched that game do this. I have seen other teams doing it though. For the pitchers, it's to get the blood flowing to move any toxins in the arm out. Major Leaguers will usually be on a stationary bike after they pitch and run the next day. I would guess for the team as a whole, it is for conditioning and to work out any kinks the players may have gotten durin the game. Same bloodflow principle as with the pitchers. |

With the schedule most of the teams have, this is the best and only time they have for conditioning. We started it at 12U and made sure everyone understood that we ran after games win or lose. |

A lot of times it is for mistakes made during the game, missing signs, errors, getting out of the way of a HBP ball. That is the reasons we did it in high school and even if we played perfect, we would run, no matter what. Every coach has his reasons. |

A baseball team wins on it's legs. I won't argue the inability to teach... but maybe this one they get right. |
