What did you prefer as player and what do you teach your players? Do you keep your finger in or out on your fielders glove?
I always played/play with it out. Always heard you might get spiked(I played infield) if you keep it out but that never happened. Anyone have any stories to support the in or out discussion?

With the finger being out it just allows for an easier close of the glove with the thumb and pinky is all. Also its really player preference as to what feels more comfortable with the finger inside the glove or out.

My son plays in the field with it out. When he pitches, he keeps it in so as to minimize any possible "tells". Bottom line is, it's a personal preference. I think you would play with it out just to get a little more cushion for that finger.

I prefer having it out. I grew up being a firstbaseman and every additional piece of leather I had for padding was better.

The last few gloves we bought have the leather flap on the back that allows you to put your finger out but have it covered from view. (I had heard a rumor a while back that Greg Maddux influenced this with Wilson to keep him from tipping off pitches.)

Definitely true - and the Wilson A2000 is a great model with this feature

Slow off season or what? this is one of the best topics in a long time.

I've also always wondered which is gets colder, Dasani or aquafina water? what is better for younger players, Gatorade or Powerade or Vitamin Water? what type of infield turf is better for 12U, bermuda or fescue? Rawlings or Diamond baseballs? Home Depot of Lowe's? Ginger or Mary-Ann?

Just kidding. Glad college football is finally here and fall travel ball has started. :)

Dasani, Powerade, Bermuda, actually Wilson balls are better, Home Depot, Mary Ann, definately. Ginger was too high maintenance and did not appear to be that interested in sitting at the park all day watching baseball.

Boise State helped themselves last night by beating VA Tech on National TV.

Dasani, pickle juice is best, bermuda, Rawlings (have not tried wilson), Home Depot of course, and there is no question at all that Mary Ann rules. Throw in Jeannie or Marsha Brady and you might have a contest there.

Boise DID look good but VT put up a great fight.
