| My son is going to be a sophmore in high school and we are looking for a good pitching coach. Any reccomendations on good high school pitching instructors? Will drive any distance just want the best. Thanks. |

This has not worked in the past, but we will try again. If you have a specific first hand experience with a coach make a recommendation. If someone makes a recommendation it will be posted, but rebuttals will not. This cannot be turned into a debate upon the merits of an instructor. Anyone taking these recommendations must check them out for themselves and realize that no one person will be universally agreed upon as being the best or even good.

| Jeremy Loftus, Former pitcher for LSU. Pitched in the CWS. Now works for MLB as a consultant. MLB teams hire him to look at prospects to make sure of proper mechanics. He trains out of Georgia Sports Center in Loganville, Ga. 770-554-3338. |

Chris Cumberland at Acworth Sports. 678-852-8678 My son has been going to Chris since he was 9 (~ 6 yrs).
LHP who came up in the Yankees organization with Jeter. His father was a coach in the Royals organziation. He can still throw in the 90's, so it helps when he can show a student what he is talking about. |

| Greg Brown at 643 is who I would contact and see if he would do it. He helped my brother in high school more than any pitching coach he ever had. He taught a nasty change up and if he can master that pitch it will be his out pitch... |

The best pitching coach for your kid is THE ONE HE LISTENS TO.
you will have to visit more than one - unless you're lucky...

| UGABall34, one suggestion I would make is to get your son with someone who video tapes him from time to time. My oldest son has had a few things just "click" after seeing himself pitch on video. They have some great tools where they can compare their mechanics to some of the great current and past pitching pros too. Kevin Renz at Renz Baseball Academy is someone we've used and had good success. |

| I have two recommendations- though not in a particular order. the guys at 643 are very good (nick, ryan, adam) as is russ dickerson with the east cobb baseball academy. |

The Ball Park is long gone. Last I saw John was about three years ago in a place called Hitters Park in Cumming. A good man and great instructor.

Any coach you go to the most important thing is how the student and teacher connect. There are lost of good people out there. You shouldn't have to go far. |

| I second Chris Cumberland. My son (14U) has been working with him for 4 months and he has done a great job so far. He really knows his stuff, he listens and makes adjustments to each pitcher. Great guy to work with for the boys and reasonable rates too. |

| John DeVore without question. If there is a better pitching coach than John, I would like to meet him. John can TEACH pitching and instruct a kid in proper mechanics and pitches. Just try one lesson with John and you will see what I mean. Can not say enough good things about John DeVore. To summarize, he a a baseball treasure when it comes to pitching. |

John Devore is THE pitching guru!
He just knows how to teach pitching to kids in simple lauguage they easily understand. He knows his stuff and the results are evident when your kid gets on the mound.
The kids love him and he's a GREAT man!

| I'm a senior and have been going to Chris Cumberland for about two years. He's the best I've worked with and recommend him to anyone. There is a difference between teaching just mechanics and teaching how to pitch. Chris will teach you both. |

As you can see, there are several options for good pitching instruction. As qui said, the best one is the one that your son connects with and learns from. Good luck in trying to get him to the right instructor. We are luck to have as many as we do in this area. |

| Robbie Morrison at Hitter's Park in Cumming is great. He is very good, and good with the boys. They listen to him. Heck, I've had him remind them to do their homework - because they will if he tells them to. |

| I know it means something if your son listens to the pitching coach but if what he is listening to doesnt make sense or isnt correct then that really isnt a big factor. |

I wanted to leave more information about Jeremy Loftice...He does his work with video analysis...currently teaches at Georgia Sports Center in Loganville.
Jeremy is the owner of Composing Motion Inc. where he is a professional biomechanical pitching consultant for numerous Major League Baseball organizations. He analyzes pitching mechanics for major and minor league pitchers, as well as prospective amateur pitchers who will be participating in the Major League Amateur Baseball Draft each year.
He worked as a biomechanist at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama under the direction of Dr. James Andrews for 6 years studying pitching biomechanics and injury mechanisms.
His list of past clients include CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, Zack Greinke, and Jonathan Papelbon; among others.
Co-authored numerous scientific publications related to the pitching motion and injury prevention. He has also delivered numerous baseball related presentations around the world about pitching mechanics and injury mechanisms.
Having pitched for Louisiana State University, he has the unique ability to view the injury mechanisms not only as a scientist, but also as a pitcher himself. |

| David Mead at Real Sports Academy in Ooltewah,TN. Former First Round Draft pick out of high school. Great with kids and can really make things fun and easy to learn for kids of all ages.
