Really good weekend of baseball in the TC tourney. As expected, the big boys definitely flexed their muscles. Looks like most of the top teams got to play a 3rd game. 643 Cougars and GA Power rolled through pool play. Cougars got a win in that final matchup 6-2. GA Power is solid from top to bottom and has been playing well all Spring. Big win for the Cougars. They appear to be shaping up nicely this season. Kennesaw and Smyrna Slammers Blue had a great final game. Kennesaw won 12-11. Generals just know how to win games and prove they are the team to beat in 12u. Haven't seen Slammers play much this Spring. GA Braves got a pretty easy win in the Gold. They continue to impress each weekend. Redstitch 108 won the Silver. Always good to see them playing. Very solid team. Reign had a good showing and won the Bronze. GA Jackets and Team Elite missed out on playing a 3rd game, which was a little surprising. It's been an interesting Spring so far. Lots of baseball left, but going to be fun to see how things play out.
It was a good little tournament with 19-20 teams and for sure some big hitters with Kennesaw, Gainesville, GA Power and 643 among others...I saw a few innings of most of these teams but they were all spread out at the parks so hard to see them all. 643 looked impressive for sure but I noticed or rather someone told me that the 643 had picked up some new players. Looks like they gelled quickly. Of course, everyone knows their top two pitchers are tough to beat on a given day if they are on. I saw a game early in the day where GAP's middle part of their order was hitting the ball out of the bigger field ( can't recall for sure which field ) but 250 ft ish... They hit 3-5 balls in the two innings I am referring too 240-285 ft! Looked like Gold when they get it going. Maybe more fire power than I thought with that bunch. The finals looked close on game changer but the one inning looked like a few errors blew it open for 643 and with that pitching tough to score that many if they are on. 643 is always good fundamentally with their leadership. Great coaching year in and year out IMO. Longer tournaments may hurt them right now IMO with pitching depth but who knows these new kids are obviously good. Congrats to that group! Gainesville ( GA Braves ) let one slip in pool but hats off to the Gwinnett County team...Reign Baseball Club. That's one you would not normally see them let slip away. Redstitch can beat anyone with their ace throwing but let's see what happens in the longer tournaments...I hear that Redsticth is going to represent GA vs FL for USSSA and that will be a really tough tournament for a team with a short bullpen. Need some horses to get through that one... We will see. I still agree Kennesaw is the likely the bet if you play the averages right now at least on most tournaments they are in. GA Braves always dangerous and well coached so it's great to see different teams winning it makes it way more fun. I noticed several new players for Halo too?? Astros Navy just letting them play for a weekend or was there some real changes ? Probably just pick ups for the one day event but that always frustrates the day lights out of teams that play the same rosters week in and week out. Wish there was rules against this but it was a one day event and likely jut caught some teams short of their regular tam rosters I guess. Next weekend even with Spring Break ending some good match ups in that TBS Major will happen...should be interesting
