3up those are both good teams to be in the conversation. Titans beat Rawlings twice last weekend so I’d give them the edge. They are both probably in that 9-15 mix along with GAP, Yankees, Club and TE Futures. Oh and Dacula Elite is probably near the top of that group - they haven’t been seen much this season in TC but just won the AAA GA/FL showdown, won the AAA USSSA SNIT, and did well in the March Kids4Kids that is all top teams.

After playing the Jackets this weekend, can you admit now that they are a solid team after saying they aren’t very good earlier?

I think a couple of good points. Homeplate makes a point that all should remember, these are 11yo boys we are talking about. All of these top 20 teams are talented, and the gap between them is less than you’d think based on years past. That is a testament to the coaches and programs that are actually developing these teams. I agree y’all have Team Elite in about the right spot since that is who I see. I think punishers may have put it right though, count the 2024’s and the number of returners and you could about ranke them that way. I still think GA Batmen is best team I have seen with my own eyes, though from friends of Astros the BPA team was freakishly good at PG this weekend. NI seems to be schizophrenic as they gave Team Elite and GAP consistent games (I watched all of first and head same from GAP families) and have won some games too but seem to struggle like a first year team. GA Jackets seems to be developing well, no surprise with those boys and that program.

Am I seeing the PG site correct that the BPA team is made up of kids from CA, FL, and MS? Obviously they are great players and a great team based on the results, but playing on a team with kids from the other end of the country at 11U seems insane. More than half the team has to fly no matter where they play.

That is correct. Spoke at length with some parents from BPA. This was the first tourney that this group played together in this year. Basically, the kids are 'invited' to play with BPA in a tourney and if all goes well they may be invited back. If you see them this weekend (or at another time) the roster may be completely different. Yes - this seems like a bit much at 11U. Final note - I thought BPA had a strong name/program in SoCal - so I am not sure why they would need to travel across the country for a relatively random PG tourney. I could understand if they were invited to the PG Super25 or something like that. Simply dominating Cal. is impressive enough. The most impressive bit was the 2nd best pitcher (this weekend) on the team is 10.

BPA is a glimpse of the future. Put together type teams with just one purpose - to win. Most if not all big name orgs pull kids from all over the nation to play with them in the HS ages, they seem to be getting a head start on it. Am I seeing this right, they got a lefty that is 5'8" and 153lbs???

NI has had some good wins over GAP and Colt 45's Navy. Your right though they struggle at times but I think you will see them become better heading into summer and next year. Always good to welcome newcomers into some top level youth baseball.

BPA team was very solid but a little over the top traveling like that for 11 year olds. We may be spoiled though in Atlanta not having to travel with some of the best youth baseball around.

What is the top tournament this weekend?

Look at the team pic on PG site. He looks every bit of 5’8”. Fly in teams at 11, I thought this was only a rumor of a super rich oil guy in Texas.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but fly in teams at this age group has been going on for years! It seems that 10/11 is the age where programs want to try this out, a couple years ago it was an 10u team "based" out of NC but had players fly in from all over the country. Even though talented, doesn't always work. They attempted for a few tournaments and I guess the only success is the 1st place trophy. Haven't seen them since. A few years ago, we met a team out of Miami who had a fly in player at 9! Some people are really about that baseball life- which is okay, to each is own.

Anyone know anything about the 5 Star team that played at the PG Majors Invitational? Heard they have beat some good teams.

From what I saw 5 Star National beat the Rawlings team from the Carolinas and West GA Warriors, While losing to GA Power and East Cobb Astros. Overall a very good team.

Looks like the Border Bash was a pretty big success for south Georgia teams with 3 teams in the final four being from South Georgia. SGSA Sharks went undefeated on the weekend and took home the crown beating Kangaroo Court in the finals. Five Star Elite had a great tournament and pushed the Sharks after losing eight the winning run at the plate in a close game. Georgia Batmen (playing as a substitute for Florida) beat the East Cobb Astros with a complete game no hitter and 10k in their first game which knocked them out of competition.

I know that the teams from south Georgia don't get seen much by the Atlanta teams due to the travel required which means they probably don't get recognized much on this forum. This weekend should prove that there are some teams from below Atlanta that belong in the discussion for top teams.

South GA - There is no question that teams from south Georgia get very little mention on the discussion boards. For those of us in metro Atlanta it is usually "out of sight, out of mind". That said, SGSA and Five Star played some awesome baseball this weekend and were definitely the class of GA this week. Congrats to SGSA on their win.

Also, congrats to Kangaroo Court on reaching the finals. When 5 Star Demarini dropped out, KC ended up facing all of the GA teams best pitchers this weekend. They bounced back from a tough day Saturday to reach the finals. That is a mentally tough, well coached team.

At the end of the season it is pretty clear that the #1 overall team for Georgia is the SGSA Sharks. They finished #2 in the USSSA Elite 32 only losing to MVP Hustle Prieto in the finals. We can debate all we want about the rest of the top 10 but after this showing it looks like it is pretty clear that they had the best year of any team in Georgia. Congrats to the Sharks on their season!

Congrats to the Sharks! Way to represent Georgia.

It's interesting to look over the USSSA and Gamechanger rosters for some of these teams in this tourney. Just in the championship game between Sharks and Hustle, Gamechanger shows each team with 19 kids on their roster! Several players on multiple USSSA teams for 2018, and even kids from a few different states. That's some serious 11U baseball, for sure!

That's how it's done now. Check out the USA 11U Futures Invitational rosters. Teams like Top Tier had 22 kids on their roster from all over the country... CA, IL, TX, FL, GA, AZ, NJ. They even had a kid fly in from HI to play in that event.

MVP Hustle is kids from all over CA. Sharks likely picked up some kids from Batmen and some of the south GA Five Star teams.

There has to be a budget for fly in players too. Mines was a fly in on a FL team this past spring and the team plaid for flights and hotel stay. A lot of teams are not willing to foot that bill.
