The 11U Georgia Bandits traveled a very long way hoping to find the elite competition that was gathered in Cincinnati, Ohio in the 11U Cincinnati Flames Invitational. Since the Bandits regained a healthy status they have been on a Bandit style tear and put an exclamation point on their national ranking scoring 37 runs and giving up only 1 in the last three games of championship Sunday. Bandits went 6-0 for the 4 day tournament and even got a professional game in watching the Cincinnati Reds beat the San Franciso Giants on Thursday morning.
The final game came down to a rematch with the Cincinnati Stix that had revenge on their minds after the Bandits had whipped them earlier in the year at the Battle of the South where the Stixx hung with the Bandits up to the last inning but let a sure win slip away with the Bandits winning in the last inning. That was back when the Bandits were healing and were not clicking on all cylinders but this weekend the Bandits were a well oiled machine and handled the Stixx easily 8-0 in the championship game.
It is hard to believe that the Bandits season is winding down with the Omaha, Nebraska tournament held at the College World Series being the last tournament of the year although several of the Bandits are planning on appearing at Disney with some other nationally recognized programs. It has been nice these last 3 weeks to have all of our boys but one back and working so well together.
