I'm with the longhorns on this one.they've won 2 or 3 super nits. Most of if not all the people on here have won 0 this year. Where was the memorial day invite earlier this year? You can't expect them to drop everything and change their schedule at the last minute because some people want another shot at them. They are clearly the best team around based on their results and shouldn't have to go chase teams. I had a poster last year make the statement " if you want to play the bandits all you have to do pay your entry fee and sign up for a tournament their in. Well I believe the longhorns have posted their schedule online for everyone to see. In the end their goals maybe different than other teams.after all it is only 11u baseball.

Most of the elite teams I know of are "going to" the best competition. If you think that the rest of your tournament schedule will get you ready for the elite 32 you are going to be very dissappointed.

I aint taking anything away from what the Longhorns have accomplished. Im just saying that the remainder of their schedule is not very strong and it wont prepare them for the high level of competition they will see at the Elite 32. Panni, you are right as soon as the tourney is over the boys will be having fun doing something else. Its not a big deal. Brad if your trying to compare the Longhorns schedule to the Bandits there is no compareson. The Bandits do more to find good competition than almost any team in there age group.

I have not seen the Bandits schedule. I tried to google it last night, but I am technologically challenged at times.
As for the good competition, are you finding in your area or do you have to travel several hours. It seems like there is good talent and competition close by for you guys. Our coaches do a good job deciding the competition level and deciding when to move up to the 12U as we are this weekend and for the 3rd time this season. The front end of our schedule was heavily filled w/ travel and there was loads of talent and competition. Just my opinion, but typically the PCB tourns. during the summer will bring in good talent from all over (especially GA teams) that we have not seen. We also need to be seen locally so our sponsors, friends, grandparents, etc. can come out and see our boys. Again, if you know this team, coaching staff and parents, I just don't feel like they will show up anywhere unprepared. It also gives us time for some fund raising and being close to home. Speaking of fund raising, we have a Longhorn Golf Tourn every year at the Hombre GC here in PCB. Maybe next year, we should send out invitations to the coaches and parents of some travelball teams. Play golf and cookout on Friday, baseball Sat and Sun. The Bombers were invited but I think they were playing that weekend. Anyway, a great way to put faces with the baseball debates and make new friends unless you sandbag your handicap (Ha! Ha!).

Not comparing schedules at all! That wasn't the point I was making. If the horns schedule doesn't prepare them for disney so what. they are going and can make the decions for themselves. To say they are avoiding people is absurd after winning 3 super nits. That was my point. I think after their accomplishments this year they deserve the same respect that was awarded the bandits last year.

Gwinettdad, in response to your statement about the Horns remaining schedule not looking strong. Question?? Teams haven't even started signing up for most of the tourns as of yet. Am I missing something? Should teams have already signed up for mid June - July tourns. Just sounds like you're being offly critical to the Horns for future events that we would have no control of. The only issue I see is if teams start cancelling vactions to our area due to the oil spill issue. This oil spill could be catastrophic for many of us here if they don't get the leak stopped. If we get major oil on our beaches, You will see plenty of the Horns because we will be having to move to GA. FLA would be out of business. Otherwise, PCB tourns will draw several teams from several states. Again, I have the utmost confidence that if our coaching staff feels our boys are not challenged, we will play in the 12U division when necessary.

baseball papa agrees with baseball brad about once in a blue moon but I have to go with him this time. The Bandits are lucky that we live where we do. Where we live gives us the opportunity to play many of the elite 11 year old teams in the country without traveling too great a distance. Something has prepared the Longhorns for this year so they are certainly doing something the right way. We know the expense of traveling. The Bandits hope to play the Horns in the rubber match this year but if we don't have that opportunity it will not be the end of the world and we also will be found at the swimming pool. The fact is that this 11 under division is as strong as any division in the nation and that we must remember that none of us from the South has seen the Texas, Oklahoma or California teams yet. It is much too early to be crowning a champion. I don't have any problem in stating that Papa believes that the Longhorns are one of the best 11 year teams in the nation but I will also say that I think that there are many teams out there as good and even better that we have not even heard from yet. The ball has bounced the Longhorns way so far and they deserve to be recognized for playing the game the right way.

I think we should start another topic to discuss the Super NIT's. It appears that there were 3 teams in the last Florida Super NIT. That's not the Longhorn's fault or problem but I think it would be nice to discuss how these tournaments seem to be going to the dog's. I wonder if USSSA is taking notes that many teams are getting sick and tired of the way USSSA is doing things.

Papa, you are on to something. Our Utrip experiences are becoming less enjoyable. On that note the Triple Crown tornaments have been fantastic. Umpires, venues and structure have been topnotch. Look out Utrip someone is gaining on you

Do you think Triple Crown is grossing more the USSSA in the ATL metro area, and during the weekends TC is active? I'd say so, but USSSA does it every weekend and across a much wider geography.

Does anyone know anything about the other teams besides the bandits and the longhorns, which are not coming. I would like to know something on the other teams. I saw where the W. Tenn. Wilcats beat the Memphis Outlaws and then TPSA from Alabama beat W. Tenn. 9-1 in the Miss. Super NIT.

The only team I can speak for is the Dirtbags(Carolina Angels). Being from NC, I have just recently found this post, and must say, you guys post a lot more than we do on nctravelbaseball.com . There are teams in North Carolina that you have probably not even heard about that will compete with the best teams in Georgia. The Dirtbags are certainly one of them. Nothing flashy, but solid all the way around. My prediction is a Bandits-Dirtbags final, but a toss-up on who wins it. One mistake is liable to determine that one. And no, I am not a Dirtbag. I am with the North Carolina Force. We have played them several times, and took them to extra innings last fall. But again, 1 mistake cost it. If the GCAA Wildcats have their stud pitcher left, he can beat ANYONE!!! Including MBA or Lynn Haven. He is a manchild. Greensboro Titans can flat hit the baseball when they are on. Big boys, and very sound. Don't sleep on them for sure. And the Charlotte Megastars won the NC and Tenn Super NIT's, but we are still scratching our heds over that. We had beaten them 4-2 the week before the NC NIT. We have never played for a Disney berth due to parent conflicts, so we did not play NIT's. We will see these guys at USSSA Major states in June though, and see how we stack up. TBS had us ranked 4th in the south in April, but we slipped up 3 times since then, so I am sure we are nowhere now. And anybody that draws the Carolina Hitmen at Disney, enjoy the win. Still have not figured that one out yet. They beat us Sunday because of a big kid that can throw hard, but also has a 35 mph curve. We finally chased him in the 5th, but the hole was too big, and our ace gave up 3 225 foot HR to them. But trust me, the Dirbags should be going WAY before them. Go ahead and bring your best shots for tooting a little NC love. BTW, I spent the 1st 21 years in Florida, and still bleed Orange and Blue!!!!

Welcome OBXblue. We (the Bandits) are looking forward to playing the Dirtbags again. They gave us all we wanted when we played them in the Battle in the South a couple weeks ago. Luckily, we were able to rally late and put the game out of reach in the 5th inning. You are right though, a very solid team.

I wouldn't say all the Triple Crown umpires have been top notch, They have blown more than a few calls this season!

Tball: Not only did any games get played but all the games were played without any interruption at all. It was a weird situation as I was trying to catch all of my 11 year old grandson's games and then change gears and drive from Winder, Georgia back to East Cobb to catch my 13 year old grandson's games. All the games in Winder went off without a hitch and the games at East Cobb were in a constant delay due to rain and lightning.

In one of the toughest days of the Bandits young careers they won 4 games in a row to win the inagaural Memorial Day Event for Nations Baseball held in Winder, Georgia. This tournament featured teams from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, Mississippi and Ohio and 3 of the last 4 teams featured Georgia's best going toe to toe with Papa's good friends the Bay Bombers hailing out of the great state of Florida. We haven't been this tested since the 4 games back to back at Cooperstown but proved that they were more than up for the task.

We started out with the Georgia Outlaws and ended up in the championship game with the Bay Bombers with TPSA Bandits and Georgia Academy sandwiched in between. I have too much to say about this tournament and plan on starting a new post that will give everyone the opportunity to share their thoughts on this event.

I would like to congratulate all the Georgia teams for holding court on their home turf. If not for a couple of nail biters where the experience of the Bay Bombers prevailed then it would have been an All-Georgia final four. 3 of our best Georgia teams had the Bombers on the ropes but the Bombers are a team that will not quit. Team Georgia lost to the Bombers 5-4 with bases loaded and the count 3-2 before the last batter went down, Jaquars led the entire game with the Bombers pulling it out in the late innings and Sandtown made it a one run game late before falling to the Bombers. To give the Bombers the credit they deserve this murderer's row of team that they fought their way too left them no pitching and some tired position players and their tank was almost empty by the time the championship game rolled around. They fought like the champions they are but the Bandit pitching won out in the end of this one. I officially proclaim this the best run and best umpired tournament the Bandits have been to in a long while.

Papa, after seeing all the games I just want to completely agree about the quality of the tournament. Shannon Ivey consistently puts on some of the best tournaments in our state. Now that he has decided that he occasionally wants to cater to the major teams I believe it will only help his tournaments and Nations baseball. We have played in several of his tournaments and he always takes the time to speak to everyone and he knows just about every kid by name. Other teams would be crazy not to participate in this tournament next year.

Congratulations to the Bandits, however this tournament does not seem to be as strong as advertised earlier in the year. Yes there were some great teams... but not the best in the nation as had been advertised. I am not taking away anything from anyone!

I think many of the top teams in the southeast were there as advertised but a couple backed out or could not come for various reason. Would hve been good to see MBA and Lynn Haven there but it just didn't work out that way. Seems like a lot of these teams are playing well which is a good time to have a tournament like this one. When teams are peaking. you will see some great matchups. can't wait to see who ends up at disney in Aug. That will be a difficult tournament to win. Good Luck to all who participated in this one in Winder.
