Up in Flowery Branch right across from Falcons nest. Hope the weather holds out. 26 11U teams last I heard, split into two skill levels. Pretty strong group of teams. Any special Grand Slam rules to know about? How bout some Cliff Notes and save me some reading.

Bmoser, this is actually a tournament run by T. Gaines out of South Gwinnett. The website for tournament updates is http:\\turn2tournaments.com

I understand that the 10u ECB Braves are playing up to the 11u AAA tournament this weekend and drew Team GA in pool play. Should be a good test for the young Braves. I think they will give Team GA a handful Saturday.

Pitching limit is 10 innings.

You started a thread on this the other day but somehow it was erased. Who do you see in the semis and finals?

Moser; what do you know about the fields being used at the highschool? Is it more than one field. Deminsions? Grass/dirt infield?

Warriors Baseball drew the 10U EC Braves too in a rematch from Summer '08... a 4-3 Warrior victory that went down to the last pitch. I hope they don't remember, they don't need any extra incentive.

Glad to see this event draw 26 11u teams. Its nice not to have to go all the way over to Cobb County to play a quality event against high caliber teams.

Amen to the travel thing bmoser. Looks like most of the 11u teams are on this side of town for a change. Monroe has also drawn a big crowd in their tournament.

Good luck to the Warriors this weekend. Tell your little man that T.C. and I wished him luck.

For the 11U AA division, they are using both Hog Mountain Park (fields 2&3) and Flowery Branch H.S. (all 3 fields).

For the AAA/Major division, only Flowery Branch H.S. fields (all 3) are being used.

Hog Mountain Park (entrance directly across from Falcons nest) fields 2 & 3 are grass infields, and I'll guess 225'. The facility appears to be ~2 years old. They have 2 other fields, but those are typically used by softballers.

Flowery Branch H.S.'s 3 fields are so new, they don't show up on web-based satellite imagery. I cant tell for sure. I'll guess 1 full sized H.S. baseball field w/ grass infield, temp outfield fencing set up at 250' (not sure about pitching mound situation), one softball field ~325' dirt infield, temp mound, and maybe 1 hybrid field that could be used for Freshman/JV baseball or Softball.

I'll pass along your well wishes, but he'd tell you he's not so little now. If you asked how he knows that, he'd say:
I'm Eee-L-E-V-E-N now
I weigh more than 80 pounds
and, I have my own deodorant!

Good luck this weekend, I hope Mother Nature is kind to you. Show the Green team the ropes. If it rains, challenge them to bowling, the kids would have a blast with that.

T. Gaines and crew did a great job with this tournament. I will tell you the facitlites at Flowery Branch H.S. were extremely impressive. I will play here any time I get a chance.

I agree, the Grand Slam tourney was well done. The Flowery Branch High School/Hall County co-op facility is brand new, and they had good umps. Once they get the scoreboards in, it will be even better. No batting cages, but lots of level grassy area to set up soft toss nets.

3 fields, all 225-250, one permanent mound, 2 temps. I suppose these are High School softball fields. I saw no real High School baseball field there. They must play off-site. What a great place for High School soft ball players.

Any feedback from the other venue they used...Hog Mountain Park? Last time I was there, it seemed 2-3 years old, and was very nice too.

I hope these two venues team up to host many many more. Nice job Tim Gaines, Hall County, Grand Slam, and any others that helped.

Great tournament. Very well run and well played by all teams. The Venue was great. Cages and scoreboards will be the next step. with 3 high caliber fields in one place (FHS) i see a lot of tournaments in their future. Very strong final four:
Team GA
Mill Creek Red
Sharon Springs Black
Alpharetta A's.

Several great games along the way.
pool play
Braves/Team Ga
Alpharetta/Mill Creek

Bracket:
Team GA/Sharon Springs Bl
TEam GA/mill creek

The Braves are impressive for a 10U team.

I agree Rocky. We played them last year as 10's when they were 9's. It took our best pitcher (now a Bandit) to shut them down. Even then they didn't go quietly.

I saw the Braves play. You are right, they are impressive. I guess you do not play up if you are an average team.
