Who is coming? As of today, their are only 3 teams registered. This is terrible considering it is a Super NIT. I know their is a big Triple Crown tournament in Atlanta and also in Gaineville. |

I think that there are most likely several reasons that you are seeing such a drop off in USSSA Super NIT events. #1 is that there are so many in Florida that the teams that want to go to Disney have already qualified and there is just no interest at all and remember Florida has 4 and Georgia only 1. #2 is the lack of communication and effort that USSSA seems to be putting into their tournaments. #3 The luster and hype of Disney has fallen off some and it is almost too darn hot to play baseball and walk the 10 miles a day you have to walk at Disney and Disney is by far the most expensive a travel team will ever make. #4 Triple Crown treats the teams 10 times better than USSSA although Bubba is making a much bigger effort to help the teams most of us in Georgia will pick a good Triple Crown event over a good USSSA event any day of the week. |

Papa I have to agree with you. Disney is nothing special now and its EXPENSIVE for out of state teams. Living here we get to play there often and the fields are nothing special, you walk miles as you put it and other organizations are becoming more appealing because they are hungry for the business and feel the need to treat teams better than Usssa is currently at big events.
I will say however that from what I have seen playing in Ga and Fla. Georgia Usssa tournaments are nicer. The directors have all been fantastic, its more organized, the trophies are better and some due diligence has been performed related to rosters and birth certificates. So in my humble opinion Georgia Usssa has been much better than Florida.

With all due respect, when the Longhorns won the Atlanta Super NIT, the trophies were brought on the field and were still in their boxes. They were brought on the field by a man and a small child. Their was nothing said, no presentation of any kind. I was frankly quite suprised that as big of a tournament as they was suppose to be that nothing was said to the winning or second place team and no trophy presentation. Please understand that I am not complaining, our kids know what they accomplished. I was just suprised. |

Welcome to the world of Georgia Baseball Longhorn Fan. I agree with you 100% that your kids and any kids for that matter any team's kids deserve to be recognized when they achieve something of the magnitude of winning a Super NIT. Bandits has won at least 6 Super NIT's over the past few years and got about as much recognition as you just described. We are just like you and could care less but it does seems like they could do a little more than they do. |

Grand Slam baseball doesn't get much attention in the ATL area, or on this forum, but I've noticed they always did the very best job of presenting trophy's to the winners and runners up, and always had great trophy's. For the younger boys, like mine, trophy's matter. They made it so special, you'd think your son's team won the World Series. Thanks for those memories.

Again, I am not crying; the kids are what it is all about. I know that Larry Thompsom with Grand Slam Tournaments does a wonderful job with this. |

Grand Slam definitely does the best job with presentation and trophies that I've seen. |

hopefully a snit can attract more than 4 teams. maybe they should look at playing some outside fla to get teams to play in fla. grand slam puts on a good tourn. good folks who are usually around to deal with any issues. they apprectiate the players and the families. |

If USSSA doesn't get better, soon! Organizations like Grand Slam will move in. I hope this does happen. Competition is always a good thing. |

There are too many other good organizations for a team to have to deal with USSSA. We will drive 3 hours to not play in one. I find Nations and Grand Slam both treat my team better when we come to town. I plan to do some T.C. as well as I hear they do a good job. I can assure you, we will not sign up for USSSA if at all possible. I have written a letter or two about them allowing slashing, and until they realize it is dangrous for these boys to be doing it at such short bases, I will not play in their tournaments. I am sure they will not miss us, but I still have the final say so...:-) |
