For me I'd like to see Cartersville Rookies and Home Plate Chilidogs Lawson, play in bracket. Both have huge bats. Just make sure it's at a field atleast 230. |

I'd like to see the EC Colts vs. Bandits Pool play game. The Colts may surprise people with a victory. |

That is wishful thinking. I know its baseball and anything can happen but colts don't have a chance of beating the bandits. |

bkball, I know you don't mean any harm but that's just wrong. The Colts definitely do have a chance to beat the Bandits. My guess is they will give us a very good game. |

Jimmy thinks you shouldn't underestimate the Colts. Jimmy once saw a pig fly. Jimmy thinks anything is possible in 11U baseball!

Bandit Hawk I am a little confused, on a different thread (15-18 does 11-under matter?) you made it sound like the bandits were a AAA team not a major team. Where am I going wrong? |

I fixed it (I hope). Didn't mean for it to sound that way. |

Papa thinks Jimmy might have been flying on the pig and I would bet that the pig is pink and that he saw it at the bottom of a glass. I can assure you that if the Bandits don't play well or even if we do that the Colt's are more than capable of beating us. This is the part of the game that many of you still don't seem to have gotten, Any of us can get beat by the other at any time. Baseball does not allow you to count your chickens before they hatch. I can't believe that I spent most of this post talking about pigs and chickens. Jimmy just ain't right getting Papa this far off base. Jimmy, Please remember that this a baseball forum and not Old McDonalds Farm. |

I am assuming that Jimmy flew the pig on home early as Papa couldn't find Jimmy or the Pig on Sunday when flying pigs really counted. Last thing that I heard on the news was that Jimmy and the Pig had gotten lost in the volcanic ash that erupted in Iceland.
All joking aside I think that it was Papa himself that made the statement that in the 11 year old travel baseball world in Georgia that it is and will always be anybody's game. Look at the score of this 32 team tournament guys and consider how much good baseball and how much luck you need to win something this big.
Also consider that you can't throw everything into pool play if you plan on winning the whole enchilada. All the Colts did was to prove a point that I have been making on this site for 2 years now and the point is that if you don't come ready to play then you had better get ready to take a beating.
Jimmy has also just found out why Papa nevers posts during the tournament because Papa has found out that it ain't over until the fat lady sings or the Fat Pig oinks in this case. Bandits win the Back to School Brawl that Papa will officially rename "JIMMY AND THE FLYING PIGS BACK TO SCHOOL FARM YARD BASH" |

Crow and Mushroom Stew
3 crows 1 Tbsp lard/shortening 1 pint stock or gravy 2 Tbsp cream 1/2 cup mushrooms salt and pepper cayenne pepper
Clean and cut crows into small portions and let them cook a short time in the lard/shortening in a saucepan, being careful not to brown them. Next, add to the contents of the pan, the stock or gravy, and salt, pepper and cayenne to taste. Simmer 1 hour, or until tender, add mushrooms, simmer 10 minutes more and then stir in cream. Arrange the mushrooms around the crows on a hot platter.
Really I owe the Colts an apology, never will I say someone can't beat someone.

I guess we know now what the scouting report is on the Bandits now.Instead of recruiting kids throwing in the upper 60s to 70s ,I am lookin for one that can throw 40. |

I wouldn't count on that strategy working again. |

This is the case with most Major teams. My son is even had to struggle with the slower pitching we are seeing in Georgia at the 11u division verses the gas we saw in the 12u Major division in Florida. Its a huge timing adjustment for kids to hit that slow pitching when they are use to seeing gas most of the time.

blowingsmoke might be pulling your chain and he may be telling you the secret of beating the Bandits. I disagree with him but I can tell you that we have had our share of trouble being out on the front foot when the ball is thrown slower and then I can turn around and tell you that all the time you are preparing to beat the Bandits that the Bandits are working on any weakness that might have been exposed so when you pull out the trick that we will have an answer for it.
The game is a ever changing game and the one's that continue to win will adapt to the changes by making any adjustment that needs to be made. If we can play our way through #12's injury and get back to full strength the Bandits will be fine. |

Sounds like ole Orville might have faced Papa back in the day. If the Bandits couldn't hit the Colt's minor league pitching then they sure can't hit Papa as back in the day I was the real deal. I can still throw a real mean ball Orville. I like your name a lot as I had several good friends growing up named Orville so I am assuming you and I will be good friends. |

newman: Papa does not doubt you. That is what I have been trying to say. The game of baseball might stray away from the mound and the hitters and defense make some headlines from time to time but in the long run the game starts and finishes on the hill. You play a good game there and you will be in any game you play.
The other point that needs to be made is that anyone and it just so happened to be the Colts this time can pull off a upset in Georgia baseball or any other state for that matter if a great pitcher keeps them in the game. The Bandits proved that very point by not only playing but beating several highly ranked 12 year old teams that many thought would never happen. The Bandits beat the 12U Stixx 14-3 and that would be considered by anyone to be a major upset but we didn't win the tournament and that upset the Bandits.
How big was the Colt's win. In my eyes how big it was for them depends on what their mission is. Where have they set their goals. Will this win help them achieve their goals. I think it will because if it does nothing else it should help them believe in themselves and they can now realize that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. It also makes a point that you can't bet winning the tournament on one game and that you have got to play hard in all the games to come out on top. Believe it or not their win has helped the Bandits also. It made us realize that if we don't work hard and that if we don't come ready to play from the 1st pitch that we can and will get beat. The game of baseball will teach you humility even when you think you don't need the lesson. In a way I think the loss will help in that it takes some of the pressure off of people thinking we will win every game, and that the Bandits are invincible. We are not invincible and that is a rumor that you guys started. We just like playing baseball and just so happen to have a nice little group of kids that win a lot of games but it was never intended that we win them all.
