Just thought I would throw this out there because there was one for Atlanta tournament. It is not good that their is only six teams and I will venture to say that will probably stay that way due to how high the hotel and condo rates are. A lot of teams just are not willing to pay those high rates. Anyway, of the teams that are registed now, how do you guys see it? Also, baseballpapa, do you think it will only be a two game pool play instead of three like it was in Atlanta? I sent the director that question twice and have still not seen a response. |

Longhornfan, the only thing I am pretty sure of is that the Bandits are going to have a tough pool draw (see our USSSA point total) and that there will probably be a Florida team in the championship game. If you guys play like you did in Atlanta, it will be hard to pick someone over your team. |

I am beginning to think it is not worth going to play because of so few teams and already having a birth but we really would like to play the teams that are there. I just hope nobody else drops. |

Papa has always believed that quality will win out over quantity every single time and not one can argue that the quality of teams in this tournament are not some of the best in the nation. Bandits will most likely not be as ready as we would like to be but we can't wait for the opportunity to play. The Bandits got to the spot we are now by playing the best teams that can be found to play and it appears that we might have bitten off more than most think we can chew but we will chew it the best we can. |

I thought we would have more predictions. Where could you better odds than this. You have a 1 in 5 chance in the dark. Papa has got a dog in this hunt so I won't pick but I am sure that you all know where my heart will be. |

I am only guessing but I believe since the old Usssa tournament director left Usssa last year and joined Nations he has pulled a lot of teams to play the Nations tournaments. This guy had a huge following and was liked by a lot of people there in the panhandle area. However this is just a guess.

G-Man, You seem to know these ole Florida boys better than most. Do you think that the Bandits weak and battered that they are stands a chance against these juggernaults or do you think we should just stay home, circle the wagons and wait for the Indians to attack us at dawn in Georgia again. Give ole Papa your honest opinion. |

Why did Pace Sea Dogs get out. Looks like they moved to Auburn. Would have thought the Landsharks, Lightning, Gulf Coast Extreme or another Gulf Coast team would jump in there. Only 1 team from Alabama is in. Where are the others at. |

Papa if I was to be honest, I couldnt tell you. I have not seen the Bandits play. I only know what I have heard about your team. Based on what I have heard you would have the deepest pitching and probably to most power hitters. However speculating based on what I have seen of your 12u Major tournament play. I would guess that your team would make it to the championship. I would say Papa if you really want a good measurement of the Bandits come to Florida on 4/16 where several of the top teams in the country will be for that tournament.

These are just a few of the teams that will play in this tournament. This is the type of tournament that will test a pitching staff and batting lineup. No matter what their records you cant throw your waste pitchers against their teams or you will pay the price. In my humble opinion this is the toughest 11u Major tournament to date this year. I would like to see the Prembroke Lake Bulldogs in this along with the Bandits. That would truly make this the tournament of the year and offer some bragging rights to whomever wins this. Not to mention but I also think this is the one they are giving rings to the champions.
This also might be the last year I have this kind of knowledge of these Florida teams. I am about to become a good old Georgia boy in May. Maybe you will have another Georgia player soon to put on the radar of kids to watch

Tommorrow morning at 9:15 the question as to how far ahead the Florida 11U teams are than Georgia will begin to get some answers. The Bandits have drawn a very tough pool leading out with the Super NIT Champions and then follow that one up with the Gulf Coast Lightning.
Papa has got the Bandits at 85% full strength in that according to Doctor's orders #12 will get to hit but not pitch or play in the field. Other than #12 we have all of the guys back but some with very little preparation for this type event.
Set the line on this one Moser and don't let the low turnout fool you. These 7 teams would most likely make the top 12 next week in the 32 team Triple Crown. This is when you wish you had played more than one USSSA tournament and had earned a few more points but the Bandits will take the hand that has been dealt and do the best we can.
Fields are nice and the fences are at 250' which should make this one very interesting.
Coach Troy is very nervous and has built a monster sand castle with the boys to relieve some of the tension and no matter what happens at the fields we have had one of our most fun trips ever and promise our Georgia friends to represent our State the best we can. |

Bandits drew Gulf Coast Lightning and Lynn Haven in pool play this morning. We beat them 6-1 and 10-3 respectively. Let me say, the Longhorns are a very good team. Hopefully we will see them again in bracket play. |

Nice job today!
The usssa web site and Alabama usssa web site do not list the other pool results, just yours. Can you fill us in?

USSSA does have the pool play results at the bottom of the page below the big Marucci advertisement and the bracket games are listed at the top of the ad. www.alabamausssa.org has info on the tournament too. |

moser: I know you saw the seeds. Bay Bombers in a cakewalk to the #1 seed put the Bandits in poor position and we will have to play a very good Lynn Haven Team again and most likely face the ace that beat the MBA Pride in the Super NIT. 10BB must be cousins with the director down here as they could have just been penciled in #1 prior to playing. Most of the time I have an idea of how things might turn out on Sunday but I must admit that with our time off and the rust really showing that I don't have a clue of how today might end. We have had to fight out rears off just to survive the pool and I am not sure how much gas the Bandits have left but all of you Georgia boys know that we plan to leave what gas we have left on the field.

After a hard fought day, the Longhorns prevailed. We did learn that we have a lot to work on and need to get better. Very proud of our boys today. Just goes to show that sometimes pool play is not that impootant. Sunday is what counts. |

Good job in Sunday play goes out to the Longhorns, you managed to win another small battle in the 2010 war. I for one look more into win lose recoreds to judge the worth of a team not just the win of a one on one match up. In the 11u age group any given team (pitcher) can beat another team and the true test of a team will be to face stiff competition in an elite format much like the Winder Ga. tournament or the Elite 32. This is the type tournament the Bombers and Bandits do well in and it will be interesting to see how the Longhorns fair out in this type tournament.
The Longhorns are a very good team and deserve to be recognized as one of the top teams in the country. This team will be even better when one of their top pitchers rejoins the team when school lets out and the time is right. We (Bombers) look forward to another battle and I feel like both teams should thank Coach Rich Lupinno for some of the success of Lynn Haven baseball being thrown in national spotlight as one of the hotbeds for youth baseball players. |

Sometimes a win loss record doesn't show a teams greatness. It's the compition they face and how they play the game. And last time I looked it took an entire team to win a ballgame. There are many great pitchers out there but it takes a few ""bats" and a strong defense to support a great pitcher. And one final note, I thought the Longhorns didn't even throw their best pitcher in both games you lost to them. The Longhorns have many great pitchers and it's hard to pick a top one. It all depends on what type of team they are facing which determines who is the "best" pitcher. |
