I have never been one much for excuses and I don't intend to start now. The Bay Bombers 11u can't lay claim to being one of the best in the nation and have such a sorry performance in a championship game as we did at the Super NIT. We flat out played as a team trying not to lose rather than a team trying to win. I can gaurantee that our team will go back and practice and become a better team because of the lose than being the better team had we won!!
We were out hit, out pitched and just straight up out smarted on the diamond Sunday. The better team won on that day and I can't and will not make some lame excuse as to why we lost. We can only work harder to be the team that that we truely are and the one that most people know us to be.
I would like to say thanks to all the people on this site that know who I am and made an effort to meet me as I enjoyed talking and meeting all of you.
Lastly I think it was a good showing for Panama City baseball to have classmates playing each other in the championship game of such a high profile tournament. My hat is off to the Lynn Haven Longhorns as I have never given this team the respect that they now rightfully deserve. You have reached what I believe to be a team with a bullseye on your back but to tell you the truth that is a pretty good place to be!!

Papa had heard very little about the Lynn Haven Longhorns prior to the Super NIT and what little that I had heard came from the postings of 10BB on this site.
The 11U Bandits has had and wear now this very bullseye on their back that 10BB stated the Longhorns will now share. The bullseye is a good thing as I have learned that the good teams do not chase weaker competition, the good teams do not pitch the lower portion of their rotation on the weaker teams, The good teams do not bat all 12 players against the teams with the bullseye.
What 10BB tells Lynnhaven the Bandits have known since they were 9 years old. He is telling them to get ready for the best pitcher the other team has, get ready for the best lineup that the other team can put on the field, get ready for the very best effort from the players and Coaches on the opposing team. In other words get ready to play baseball.
Sometimes it is good to stand back and not be involved or not to have a dog in the fight so to say. I learned a lot this weekend by just watching. I saw at least 4 teams that might have won this tournament if their pitching had worked a little different. If you would ask MBA Pride if they wished their #2 pitcher could have made the trip I am sure that they would tell you that they feel it would have made a difference. I am sure that the Bombers would tell you that their pitching was set up to play MBA and not Lynnhaven. I would bet that Sandtown would say that they wished that there was one more pitcher in the cupboard. All of these things are a part of the game and the smart Coaches have as many angles covered as they can get covered but somtimes you just cannot cover all the "what ifs" and that is the very thing that makes this game so special.
What all this really proves is that this age division is not only one of the toughest in the nation but also one of the deepest. The Bandits plate was full prior to our hiatus and now our Cup is overflowing with several more great teams jumping in the soup. |

without a doubt yeag will push these boys. that's not the first loss to the longhorns. in this area they are bitter rivals on the field. this won't be the last meeting between these teams. the longhorns chased the bombers for so long that when they could compete with them, they realized they could compete with anybody. they truly deserve what has come to them. all i can say is see ya in orange beach LHL. |

Sometimes teams just have weekends where every decision that is made is the right one and it is executed to perfection by the players. We enjoyed this tournament more than any other we have ever played in. We had a game plan coming into Sunday that turned out to be the correct one. Our players did an outstanding job and our coaches continued to work together and make decisions together by discussing lineups, situation strategies, pitching decisions, pitch sequences based on our scouting reports; etc. All of our coaches have input into how we are going to approach a tournament or a specific opponent. Again, everything just fell into place. We want to continue to compete on this level because it brings the best out of our players. We also realize that our ultimate goal is to get all of our boys ready to play high school baseball and to always remind them to play loose because it is ultimately just a game. |

I think Lynn Haven has just proven what most of the true baseball people already knew and that is if you play good sound fundamental baseball with kids that work hard then you have a chance to win. If you want to get short and to the point you would say that Lynn Haven played well and deserves all the recognition that winning brings to any organization. They beat what was considered to be some of the best teams in the nation and I say "Good Job".
Is the first time this year Lynn Haven and the Bombers have played this year or have they tangled before. Seems to be a pretty good rivalry going on here that is very similiar to the Bandits/643 thing up here in Georgia.
I would hate to live in Florida and have to decide who the best 11U team in that state really is because so many teams can lay claim to the crown and back it up with impressive wins. I would like to see the Bombers and MBA Pride play again and I would also like to see MBA Pride play Lynn Haven in better baseball conditions. And then lastly I can't wait for the Bandits to hook up with them all. It was a great thing to be able to watch these teams play and I expect it will be a even greater thing to share the field with them. |

LonghornFan: Papa has signed your guestbook. I want you guys to know that I noticed the skills of your team but I also saw something that impressed me a lot more than their skills. This team, Their Coaches and their parents displayed a lot of class and I could tell that these kids are lucky in that it seem's that they are being raised and coached the right way. I appreciate this as much as I appreciate their win. |

Are the Longhorns not playing in the Florida Elite Tournament on April 16th? The team appears on the list of registered teams but according to their website, they have a golf tournament on that day?

The Longhorns will not be there. We originally had planned to be there but we decided to do the Atlanta Super NIT instead of that one. Also, this is the only time we were able to book the Hombre Golf course for our golf tournament. |
