Okay found it fun to read the predictions on the Slugfest so lets hear who you think the top 4 in each class for N.I.T. will be. Will post mine in a bit need to study up a bit. Whoever gets the most out of 12 right wins a free Taco from the Bell or breakfast From Dennys. Contest sponsored by the N.I.T. gate fee committee. Ha Ha just poking fun Bubba.

The real "Winner" in this tourney is the gate fee collectors.

$5/person Friday
$10/person Saturday
$10/person Sunday

Can you say highway robbery (and the highway remains under construction down there)!!!!

I will be offering $5 and telling the gate keeper that is all I can afford and all I am willing to pay. $10 is ridiculous! I will not pay more than $5 on principle.

It seems like everyone has the same teams in the majors. I'll predict one team, don't know who, will find themselves in the final 4. I'll take a guess and say Motor City Hit Dogs, but could be anyone. Never seen them but it looks like they can hit well.

Anyone else want to take a shot at a dark horse?

My dark hoarse is the Gamers Red making the final 4. AAA team so they should not get any teams ace. They have talent and could surprize alot of people.

Lynn Haven is no darkhorse. They were more like a bull in a china shop and they took no prisoners. Give them credit as they knocked off the big boys and made it look easy. Bandit scouts were there and took plenty of notes on these really strong Florida teams. Looks like Georgia must go back to the drawing board and devise a new strategy. bmoser knows first hand what we face and if we are going to compete consistently with these teams then we have to find ways to get better quick. I will give Lynn Haven credit as I talked to their parents and they appear to be homegrown talent from a local base which says volumes about them.

i'm not to happy to hear the bombers lose to their local counterpart. obviosly there is some good ball played in this little town. i'm sure this will not be the last matchup from these two teams. the longhorns have filled the holes
with some good players. surely the bombers will be ready for orange beach.

bmoser, this Lynn Haven team was very impressive. I got to watch them play the MBA team in the semifinals and the Bay Bombers in the championship. I'm guessing they threw their #1 against MBA and he pitched a great game. Lots of curve balls to keep the big MBA hitters off balance.

Congrats to your Bombers. I got a chance to meet a few of your coaches and they are a class act. I got the feeling they are ready to play the Bandits and see how they measure up.

Team Ga. I just didnt get there decisions in the Sandtown game. They did"nt use the 2 best pitchers. I guess holding them back for next game?

Sandtown's pitching decision on Friday cost them on Sunday.

MBA----BaseballDoc you guys are good but I didnt see that one #1 pitcher that can shut everyone down.

Bandit-Hawk

I was great to see you and TC. Man he has gotten big. He was very respecful, you guys should be proud.

On one of the websites, 10BB actually warned you guys about Lynn Haven. Lynn Haven has battled with some of the best teams under the radar for a couple of years now. They have been able to keep a strong core group of coaches and players together and with a few additions it is paying off. Just shows that there are great baseball teams and players all over the country some never get to see. Congrats to the Longhorns!

The curve ball always seems to be the equalizer when it comes to most teams that try to stack their lineup with nothing but big power hitters. I said it on this site more than once. You throw anyone who has a decent fastball but has a good curve ball MBA hitters will pound the ball in to the ground for Sunday hop outs.

As for their shut down pitcher I thought he was there. I am sure however that Doc has a different view than some of us he might share.

As for the Longhorns I told a friend of mine on Sunday when I saw what the bracket was that the Longhorns would beat MBA. I have seen the Longhorns play and know they have a good team. However I saw them most recently in the Disney SNIT and knew they had the type pitcher needed to handle MBA. Even though the Longhorns didnt fair too well against some of the Fla teams in Nov.

Baseballdoc is right, we did not do well at the Disney Super NIT in November. We and did not execute as efficiently as we needed to in order to beat a team like MBA. What we did accomplish in that tournament was we exposed our kids to a different level of baseball. We did not expect to go to Disney and win that Super NIT. Of course, we would have liked to have won it but we knew going in that it was for gaining valuable experience. You have to crawl before you walk. Our team is based upon a core group of kids that we have developed over several years. Yes, we have picked up a couple of kids here and there but that was only because other kids left the team. Again, the ultimate goal here is to have our kids prepared for high school baseball when that time comes. Playing against the best competition out there will help us acheive that. It is not all about winning.

They didnt know how to pitch MBA. Now the secret is out!!! Plus Doc I thought you had said that MBA is now a much better team than in the fall with the new additions in another thread.

G-man and Baseballdoc, both of these teams, MBA and Lynn Haven, are elite teams in our age group. I was able to watch at least 2 games by each team at the Super NIT plus see the match up between them. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses and I'm positive that their coaches are well aware of what they each need to be working on going into their next tournament. They are both a ton of fun to watch play ball, especially against each other. My guess is that if they played 10 games, neither team would come away with more than 6 wins. Lynn Haven played a great game against MBA last weekend and came out victorious. MBA was very gracious in the defeat and will come back stronger as a result of the loss. Hopefully, we can somehow get the Lynn Haven team involved in the Memorial Day tournament in Winder.

All I can say is that the season is just beginning. There is a lot more baseball to be played. Because any given team beats us does not mean that they are better or even equal. There were too many variables involved in that loss. I considered it an aberration. Only time will tell if this is true.

I would like to know the name of G-man's team. It sounds like MBA must have pounded them.

MBA IS a much better team now. At the Super NIT in Atlanta we were missing one of our top pitchers, who likely would have pitched the final or semi-final game. He is also our lead-off hitter and centerfielder. In addition, our starting catcher and #2 hitter did not play against Lynn Haven because of the flu. So, yes we are a much better team now than in the Fall. However, some of the key players were not present for the sem-final game.
Now that the secret is out, MBA will likely have a hard time winning another tournament [according to G-man].
