Who is this Bandits team you all speak of? I just moved here and have a kid that's 11. He ain't never played no organized ball, but you ought to see him hit them chickens on the head with a stick. I think he could be worked with and developed because if you can hit a moving chicken, I definitely believe you can hit a curve ball. How bout it Papa? Let us know when and where. He'll bring the chickens and the stick.

The reason that they call us the Bandits is that we steal our own chickens. The Bandits use the Mexican chickens that Manuel and Coach Vega furnish as they are smaller and much faster than the American chicken. I do agree with you that if can you hit a moving chicken on the head while the chicken is running then you should be able to hit a curve ball. Sounds like someone that we would take a look at. We do have standards now that we used not to have and one of the requirements is that they must taller than Coach Troy to get a spot but don't worry about this requirement as most all 11 year old kids meet this requirement.

If this weather doesn't get better there is no telling what I will be writing about next.

Looks like them Bandits drew the 12U EC Braves game 1 this Saturday morning. I haven't seen either of these teams but I will be at the park at that time to get my 1st look at the Bandits. Any thoughts on how this game will turn out?

I think that you could expect the unexpected. I love my Bandits but can truthfully say that we don't what to expect. I know we are expecting the Braves to be a year older, a little bigger, and more experienced with the 50' pitching distance and are looking forward to this huge challenge. Papa understands that both teams we will playing in the 12U division are both thought of highly in the State of Georgia. If they haven't practiced any more than we have it could end up 0-0.

I know the Braves were pretty good last year and have supposedly upgraded. Should be good.

I will have to get there early because it sounds like standing rooms only. Sounds like a lot of good baseball will be talked about saturday morning with a cup of coffee. Coach Mark make sure you got plenty of coffee and hot chocolate and might have to bring in some more bleacher for this one. Should be fun and not too cold later in the day.

Papa is nervous as a tick. Looks like we might really get to play. It's so much fun and I get as much a thrill with the suspense leading up to the game as I do the game itself. This one is really different in that the Bandits will going in as the underdog and we really don't have a clue what might happen but I will promise all of you Monday morning quarterbacks one thing and one thing only. They might beat us but it is against the rules for them to eat us like the Lions do their young so whatever happens we will promise only to have fun and play the best we can. I can tell you from watching them and talking to my grandson that the kids are as nervous and tight as we are. I hope that it only takes them a couple of innings to realize that it is just a baseball game and that there is nothing to fret so place your bets and let's "GET IT ON".

All of the boys played really well today. Some aspects of our game were a little rusty during the game with the Braves. The Braves are a really solid team too so it was going to take a near perfect game for us to beat them. I think we had a chance to beat them but let it slip away late. We would definitely like another shot at them, hopefully on a bigger field. For some reason, we were playing on a 212' field today. To me, this is way too small for a major 12u team.

I think TC and WH held their own against the big boys. WH is a phenom and a lot of fun to watch.

Bandit 13

Good to hear. I agree WH is the AWESOME! Papa's #20 is fun to watch as well.

But you are being modest I just heard TC 13 hit 2 bombs today. Dont even talk about the short fences Turner field can't hold that boy. My little bandit just grinned when I told him.

You are right - #20 is a phenom too. He might be the best power hitter in the country in his age group.

TC has been working really hard on fixing some flaws. I was really happy for him to see the some fruit from his "tree of labor" yesterday.

Good luck to you guys today, bturner. Looks like you have a great tournament going on in South Atlanta this weekend.

WoW - It looks like you guys did really well. I expected the Bandits to be good but wasn't sure about them playing 12U AAA and Major teams. The Bandits may have to move up an age group to stay competitive because I'm not sure anyone at 11U can compete at their level. I guess it is too early to really say this but right now I just don't see anyone on the horizon just yet. I know there are a lot of good teams biting at their heels, but they will have to have an excellent game to beat them.

I'm impressed and can't wait to see how they do today and at the Slugfeat at 12U.

Thanks for the kind words about my grandson and all the other Bandits. All of the Bandit family was super proud of them and they had a really good tournament and really enjoyed having the opportunity to play these great 12 year old teams. They lost a heartbreaker to the 12U East Cobb Braves, who by the way have an awesome team full of power hitters and some great pitching to go along with the hitters. We had them 7-6 going into the bottom of the last inning and they hit a walk off homer for the win. Our guys were down, broken-hearted and had their heads hanging during the post-game recap and we all wondered how long the dejection and sadness would last.

To answer this question. We found them exactly 3 minutes after the talk playing some kind of tree basketball that they had just invented and was dunking through the limbs of the trees, laughing and having the best time of their lives. If Papa could take this attitude, put it in a can and share it with the world we would all be living in a much better place.

10BB: Let Papa make it clear that playing the Astros is not what the Bandits wanted. We are playing in the 12U division hopefully to allow us to see better pitching and stronger hitting that might get us more ready to play the Pride, Bombers, and all the great Alabama teams in the Super NIT. We knew going in that we might have to play the Astros and are prepared to do our best but let me tell you that I watched them and it would be a bigger miracle than the USA Hockey team when they beat Russia if we could pull this off. Trust Papa when I tell you that they are off the chart good and have assembled the very best talent in that age group. I can't believe that they are even wasting their time in the 12's as I feel that they can compete in the 13U or 14U and win or at least chase the 12U Leon Medical Center boys down your way. They are a truly great team and I just hope we don't get embarrassed.

10BB we played Easton last week and would say they're strong points are team speed and hitting. Weaknesses are pitching and catcher(you can run all day). Bandits should handle them without a problem.

Papa: I can assure you the Bandits will not get embarrased by the Astros. There a good team but somethng in my gut is telling me the Bandits will prevail. Look forward to seeing you guys at the Slugfest in 2 weeks.

I have seen the 11u Bandits and the 12u Astros play. I do believe that the Bandits are the best 11u team I have seen in the SE...Congrats Bandits!!!!

However, Pappa is correct..The 12u Astros are a very solid 12u major team.

No disrespect intended to the Bandits. This game should not be close at the end.

It will depend on who the Astros pitch and how much they move their players around.

Coach

Would someone tell the Astros that they should pitch their bat boy and move some of the best players to another field. youth baseball is most likely closer to being right than anyone so far. If some of you 11U guys have seen these 12U Astros you would know what he is speaking of. But we all know that baseball is a "fickle" game. Papa is praying that some of their hard line drives find a way to our gloves, that some of our dink hits land a inch over their 2nd baseman's outreaching arms and that we can find a way to have some fun doing something that these kids loves so much. It's just another game guys and if we can find a way to be better prepared for the Super NIT then we will have been successful. I will say that I don't think we will see a better team than the 12U Astros in all the 11U nation so this should help us out.

The Astros are for real no doubt about it but....edgy if thats a word. The fear of failure will be off the charts. You can expect to see their #1 or #2 on the mound. They have little to gain and EVERYTHING to lose.

I'm betting they really did not want to draw the Bandits.

AA17Dad, very interesting point. The Bandits are the underdog and the Astros are expected to win. It will be interesting to see how that (being the underdog) inspires the Bandits and how fear of loosing to a 11U team affects the Astros. Maybe there will be no impact, but I am hear to tell you, that the mental/emotional side of baseball can do crazy things (positive and negative). Good luck to the "Underdogs"!

I dont think you will see much difference in 3-13 with the Astro's pitchers. Its not only the pitchers that will hurt you it is their bats. 1-14 can crush the ball...

I dont know if you can pitch around them from what I have seen.

Please remember I think the 11u bandits are the best 11u team in the SE if not the country. What They are doing is getting themselves ready for any Major 11u tournament they go to. I feel for the 11u teams they will face.
