The cat is out of the bag!! I guess we can talk about this great tournament that is an invitation only now.

I think it will be great that a tournament will be held for all the Ga. guys that want to participate so that they may be able to get a personal invite to the Invitation Tournament. This is there chance to compete with what has been or is looked at as who will be the top teams in the Southeast. This is the chance for the East Cobb teams to be looked at as a top notch team with the ability to compete on the National Level. Papa I hope they take the opportunity in March to qualify for the Invitation Tournament in May.

This is a great idea to fill the last spot of the invitational tournament. Who's interested in playing for a spot? Holly Springs, Collins Hill, ECB Titans, Mill Creek Red, Duluth, ECB Colt 45's, 643 Jags, Jackets Gold, GA Select Red/Blue, HP Chilidogs, ??? Who have I forgotten ?

Mill Creek Red has already signed up. I saw where Ga Select Red/Blue has as well. If that is what we have to do to show we are able to play with the top teams, so be it. I think it is the only fair way to select the final teams. I think we can all speak of how good our teams are, now lets go out and show it. In my opinion, there is no doubt the teams already invited to the Memorial Day tournament have proven they can play to high level competition. What this director is doing in order to prove who is number one is giving all teams that feel they have a chance to play in that tournament an opportunity to qualify. He is not making the call, our teams prove themselves. That is how it should be in my opinion.

The big question is how many of the teams that are already invited plan to show up at the March qualifier. I would hope none for the simple fact that that way the winner will advance and we won't have to guess on some points system or who was lucky enough to avoid the big team. I know the temptation will be great for some of these elite teams, I'd just like to see it decided on the field not on the computer. What do you guys think? And no I'm not scared to play them.

The way I understand it, even if they do show up, it is ONLY the highest ranked team that is not already invited will get to go. So, if two of them show up and play for the championship, and a team not invited gets third, that team will be given an invite. I would think since this is an invite tournament only in March, the Director would not invite any team that already is in. Just my thought.

If any of the qualified teams come to the tournament, then with the luck of the draw being so important, someone would have to play them early. You could end up on the good side of the bracket and avoid the big guns. Either way it's not settled on the field, but who was lucky enough to avoid the land mines longer.

I look forward to seeing all these team any of the other 20 weekends, just not that one weekend.

11baseball: I think Papa agrees with you. If the invited teams want to play the weekend of the qualifier then the ones that can could get together and play some sort of round robin against each other. Let the qualifier be for teams not yet qualified. Even if the invited teams didn't win they most likely would cause someone to travel a much tougher road and alter the outcome for the teams.
