Since the majority builds teams geographically and the fact all strive to build the best team period - not by class(not aware anyone striving to be the best AA team).
Within each County are the best teams? And the playing field is level when you limit recruiting to within a given county. Anyone can have a stud team if you recruiting limits differ from the majority |

How do you know at this point? These teams change players season after season and things happen...such as Scorpions no longer being in tact. You won't have a good idea of who the best teams are until at least late March 2010.

Moser - you typically are on the money but I'm guessing you've forgotten about a couple of teams in Cobb. And what about the counties south of ATL? (Henry, Clayton, Fayette) |

I think Bmoser is just offering an "educated guess". I can't think of anyone who is as educated as he is regarding 11u baseball in the Atlanta area. Doesn't mean there isn't someone out there, I just haven't met them yet. |

Suprised that you put both East Cobb teams over 643.

stinger: your probably right. I'm off my game this time of year, but that mystery Elite tourney string fired up a few synapses. I guess 6-4-3C has got to be added to my Cobb list.
baseball37: I know because I am blessed with: -having many friends who help keep me informed -having ample time on my hands, so can attend 150+ games/year -having a wife who puts up with all this
I am very careful w/ info others share with me, so have earned their trust. I attended nearly every Fall tourney, multiple tourneys in the same day. I watch very closely, keep notes, and ask a lot of questions when I see a new face, or new team. I missed one Fall tourney towards the end (Team GA won it), but my friends filled me in. I missed Cooperstown too which I'm still kicking myself for. The webcast just made it worse. Bandit13's live updates kept me sane.
I went to the Elite 32 in Disney to watch the 10's battle it out. Saw every team play at least 2 innings, if not more. I make most TC tourneys, all GA S-NIT's, Slugfest, LBL and GGBL league playoffs, Dixie Youth District, my local Rec league Spring playoffs. When my sons game is over, I take him home, & double back.
It's my hobby, and I LOVE it! I don't know it all, but I'm trying really hard to.

I have to put my vote on BMoser knowing these teams. I think he is telling a little story. I believe he goes to more than 150 games.... I see him at every tournament I am in no matter where it is. He missed the one in Tennessee. I would not be surprised if he is there next year though. |

shutout- i don't think team ga is out of gwinnett county. in fact i don't believe they even have any kids on their roster who lives in gwinnett. there might be another couple of teams that bmoser might have overlooked out of gwinnett/walton area. |

The Team GA players come from several areas - Newton County, Clark County to name a couple. I'm not sure of all of them. We could say "East/Northeast" of Atlanta ?? |

Tennessee was the same week as our World Series, and the Elite 32, so I had to be in Florida. Otherwise, I'd have been there. I was following it from my laptop though, and celebrated each of your wins with a fine cigar.
I didn't include Team GA in Gwinnett because I thought more of their players lived in an adjoining County, so I'll have to find out which County most of their players hail from. Can anyone help me out here? If 6 or more live in Gwinnett, I stand corrected. Same goes for GA Select teams, I'm not sure what County the majority of their players live in. Maybe Coach Ward can chime in.
The County question was a good one.
I'll pass on the South side.

Not only does bmoser go to more than 150+ games a year and keep tabs through contacts at teams he even shows up to watch some tryouts. So even though he is not always 100% accurate he is very well informed. |

I certainly wasn't trying to correct you. I respect and value your judgement ( knowing how much youth baseball you observe ) and was curious as to what would cause you , in your opinion, mention these two teams from Cobb without including the Cougars or Kenn...er...the Jaguars. I know the Titans have improved over a pretty good team from last year. If I'm not mistaken , the Stars are a combination of last years Stars and Longhorns, but are as of this time unproven.quote: Originally posted by bmoser

I think overlooking 6-4-3 is an oversitght also. Danny and his staff will make the most of his players and they will be a force in the 11u major group. |

My advice for the ones that are reading way too much into the Fall Season and the results of the fall tournaments is that you should be real careful. I think that we all see great improvement from many teams this year and that the 2010 season will show much more parody and much less dominance by any one team including my Bandits.
We expect not a battle but a war and any of you that is writing 643 off I will be sure and remind you of my post that stated that you had better not take any of the top teams in Georgia lightly or you will get a spanking. |

Papa claims that the Bandits are the best in the Catoosa and Walker County area population 4124 including pets but not farm animals. |

Peanutsr: I saw Kennesaw (1 game)and Jags (2 games) play this Fall, and in those games (BB's + E's)>H = 3 losses. If a team can consistently have more hits, than its sum of walks issued + errors committed, they will make a lot of folks' lists. If you have your teams score book, go through some games to track this for your team, and its opponents.
You'll be amazed at the percentage of times this equation holds up. The Titans, and Jackets were 2 teams that did quite well with this in the games I watched them play this Fall.
I also place a lot of weight on the catcher. I track passed balls less runners thrown out.

Papa, These 2 Counties have a combined population of ~120,000. How Coach Troy was able to get the best 9 athletes from this pool is either pure luck, or pure genius. Nobody can question his ability to develop the talent he has.
My theory is that he chose the fastest runners, then showed them how to play baseball. Then he showed them how BB's, E's, and total bases = wins. That's the way I'd do it if I were to start a team today.

There have been some good baseball players come from that area in the past like John Whitlow Wyatt and Ralph 'Country' Brown. |

Sorry Mr. Moser about the inaccurate count of the population in the 2 counties. How did you get up here so quick and count all these people. My daughter and her clan were out of town so you need to add at least 10 to your count. You are the man and remember that it was Papa who said it first. I do think my count on the pets and farm animals are right on the money. |

I used to play ball with Whitlow Wyatt s grandson, he was a great ball player, but he was from Polk County. |
