Superior Baseball Events would like to "Officially" inform anyone that may be interested in knowing more information on the Memorial Day Invitational Tournament. We would also like to explain what the Memorial Day Invitation Tournament is and the status of the tournament at this point.
The Memorial Day Invitational is a Nations Baseball sanctioned tournament that is going to be held on Memorial Day weekend in Winder GA for 10U and 11U teams and is limited to 12 teams per age group. At this point 11 teams have been invited in the 11U age group and 8 of the 11 have accepted their invitation. We plan to start focusing on the 10U soon.
Superior Baseball Events goal with the Memorial Day Invitational is to bring 12 of the top teams from the Southeast and surrounding areas together for a very competitive and well ran event. We would like for the Memorial Day Invitational to be as a competitive tournament as any 10U and 11U team can play in the state of Georgia in 2010. Our thinking is, with only 12 teams attending the event, each game will be tough and no team can take a game off and get by another team. In our opinion, there are very few tournaments held, where this is accomplished. We could possibly make this a larger tournament but then it would become just another big tournament and that is not our goal.
Inviting Teams Did we miss inviting some Georgia teams that should be invited - Certainly. When the Memorial Day Invitational gets here at the end of May we will all know who has been the most successful at that point. With teams having not played in the Spring of 2010, there can be many debates on how teams and which teams should be invited at this time. However, with the distances that many of the teams will travel to the event there was no way that we could get a commitment from them if we had waited and invited them in early to mid Spring. The out of state teams that have committed at this point we feel are at the top of their games in their respective States and we wanted a good representation of teams from different states competing. As we all know, teams start working on schedules very early and the further a team has to travel the more of a commitment it takes from the families involved. We will certainly try to do a better job in 2011 inviting teams.
Guaranteed spot for the Memorial Day Invitational With the Memorial Day Invitational, again the goal of Superior Baseball Events is to bring together the best teams in the Southeast to Georgia for a premier event. This provides a unique opportunity for teams to face the toughest competition available in all games of a tournament. If your team has not been invited, please do not be offended. With only twelve spots available, we had to mostly look at past performances. We simply may not know your team yet. If you think your team belongs in the Memorial Day Invitational, then please make your case by competing against the best Georgia has to offer in the Georgia Invitational in March. Spots are limited to the first 10 teams. We will award an invitation from the Georgia Invitational Tournament to the Memorial Day Invitational Tournament to the highest placing 10U and 11U teams who does not have an invitation. We want the best, Memorial Day weekend.
Hopefully the official announcement of the Memorial Day Invitational has not offended anyone, but yet possibly answered some unknowns.
Thank You Superior Baseball Events www.superiorbaseballevents.com |

Yes fourseam; the Orioles are a very good team. They are last years Virginia Generals. They were at the Disney Elite and did real well. They have been picked up by professional coach's at Snyder Baseball Academy. SBA Orioles are the real deal and should not be taken lightly. They have also reloaded and picked up two new players since Disney. This is the link to the Academy http://www.haymarketsportsplex.com/ |

Anybody that can predict this one is a much better man than Papa will ever be. This one will be up for grabs and I will bet my hat that the winner will be the one that gets some breaks and has the ball bounce their way. Skill wise the teams in this one "ROCK". Team Georgia will find out fast what the Bandits, Sandtown, and 643 have known for a couple of years now. I don't predict much but I will predict that Team Georgia will find out that this will be a experience that they have not yet had the pleasure to experience. Win or Lose this one will be fun. |

My question is why is team georgia in this, have they played any major teams. Did they get invited because of fall results. I do not remember seeing them last summer. They are a new team and they get an invite. I know there were some other teams that have going through the circuit over a season that was more deserving. |

I got to stick up for Team GA. They are good enough to represent GA. They may be new, but have some very athletic players.
Anyone who doesn't believe Team GA should be in it, should come over on our side and find out for yourself. I would bring my 2 teams to jump in a tourney with Team GA. What do you say Team GA? |

Team Georgia, yes they were chosen based upon their Fall performance vs. 11U and 12u competition. How do I know? Because they were not a team last Spring, so it's the only plausible explanation.
I can agree with you that Holly Springs Express should have gotten the nod before Team GA based upon the entire 10U season, but I cant disagree w/ the tourney directors decision either after watching Team GA play several games. Who else besides HSE did you have in mind? No other team jumps out at me that are not already invited.
Its getting lonely out here on the firing line! Here, you can borrow my blind fold...and have a smoke too. Now, who were your thinking should be invited?

sward and bmoser i here you but I do not see results against quality 11u Major teams. They got run ruled by the bandits. Papa who did you guys not run rule last year, maybe thats who should be invited. Most teams in the fall did not have all their players. It just seem strange that fall results gets you an invite. I just think if you are going to base a tournament on results it should be based on an entire season and not the fall when everyone is in disarray.. I think their selection was very unfair considering they have not gone through a season. I was thinking the 643(Kennesaw)jags, they beat the other team twice in the fall, (if you are going by fall results) or the chilidogs(They have combine their team) or the Titans(I think the Titans came in second in disney AAU last year.
I think in the long run this will back fire. I know of three teams that have decided that they will not support this organization this year. |

Any team that thinks they deserve to get in this tournament still can. All they have to do is enter the Ga. Invitational on the weekend of March 26, win that tournament and they get a FREE entry to the Memorial Day invitational. The PROOF is in the PUDDING. |

Based on fall I could see 6-4-3 Jags getting a spot also. Their core group of players have always done well and they have some very good pitching. |

Justin, I generally agree with your opinions expressed on this forum and I enjoy your input. I think if you had seen Team GA play more than once, you would agree that they are a top 3 team in GA already. My son played a couple of tournaments with them in the Fall and they are a legit threat to beat anyone. Yes, the Bandits run ruled them but they were always a good inning away from making that close game. They only struck out 4 times in that game and the Bandits defense made some awesome plays to keep them shut down. I hope you will make the effort to go watch them play in a tournament soon. I believe they are playing in the Spring Frost at the end of February. |

justincase: Do you think that sometimes in life that it is not what you do but who you know. Let's remember that Team Georgia is right under the nose of this Tournament Director and that leads me to believe that he knows them better than I. We did run rule them but the game was much closer than the score and as you know because you are a baseball guy the score is not the only indicator when judging a team. I can give a witness that this Team Georgia bunch plays the game well but my dog is not involved in the invitation list fight.
One thing that makes baseball the greatest game on earth is that any good, sound baseball team can have that one exceptional moment or game and compete with any team in their age group. Ask Holly Springs how it feels to play us the way they did. Even though they lost they walked away on a cloud knowing that they had played a great baseball game. Ask us how we felt after the Mizuno victory. We live for these moments and I hope that everyone has the opportunity to live in these type moments. There is not a team out there that has not experienced or will eventually experience this type moment so I can't complain about the list of teams coming or how they got their invite as I will be worrying too much about how the boys can get back to another special moment. Baseball's great in that it keeps the thrills coming back over and over again. |
