I thought it was the latin team from Calhoun trying to use the donated uniforms ? Suprising Papa didn't let us know it was him and not the hard to find Coach Vega. It would have helped end the speculation on my side.

I don't believe Tony said any such thing. To give the history on the tournament when I found out the Bandits might not enter, I called Tony and advised that I would enter a team with all of the Bandits that could play and to call this team the Slobber Knockers. The team would have consisted of all Bandits not playing football or hurt and we would have picked up some kids from Rome to fill the team out.
When Coach Troy decided that the Bandits could play although very short handed then the team I discussed with Tony fell through but the players that I would have been using is in the tournament and will play Saturday.
Read my lips here boys: Papa has nothing to do with the Latin team and does not know who Manuel or Coach Vega is but if any deserving team could use my help then I would be glad to help them out.
Let's all be sure that we have all the facts before posting assumptions. |

The guy that you are all after is with the Chili Dogs. The only game that Papa plays is between the lines. The Knights name came from the uniforms that Mr. Moser had. Papa don't run and to prove this I will be the easiest man to find at the Triple Crown this weekend. I do have a suit of armor with Knights across the front that I used back in the day. |

Sorry baseballpapa but the name Slobber Knockers is already spoken for. I am sure we would be willing to allow you the use of the name or a slight variation for a small fee ;). By the way, will you be at the TC tourney this weekend? I look forward to seeing the Bandits play some ball. I am thinking that they have a very good chance of adding another title to their already impressive resume. |

Slobber Knockers was suggested by jc1964 and I really took to the name. Sorry that it already taken. I am glad the Bandits are well rounded and do not spend all of their time on one sport. We all could learn from this. It's easier for young kids to get burned out if they put all of their energy into one thing. My grandson plays football and I don't get too happy about it but I still support him and try to be there every single game. |

Tball: Bandits are playing too. We will bring the best that we have got and hope that it might be enough to get us deep in the brackets at least. There are some really good teams that are a lot more ready to play than us too but we also will be there. |

tombstone, manuel, coach vega, and mdwhp might all be the one and the same person. All know that Papa is Papa and does not hide behind the user name. I wish that I had a more reliable source and if mine ever gets home from the bar I am going to get us some more information on this mysterious latin team. |

tombstone: Of course you would think that Papa is trying to weasel and to find a hole to go underground but that is far from the truth. Would you care to comment on your many user names. Does mdwhp, manuel, and coach vega refresh your memory. Again no proof other than my very unreliable source. |

Baseballpapa, I think you are calling me out on all of this nonsense. I want you to know that I am not the one involved here. I dont know any of the names on here. I wish I had the time for all this nonsense.I have gone back and read some this ,I admit kinda funny ,but dont think its me. I could care less about any other teams , H and I are just focused on the Chilidogs and hoping to have a good season and maybe get on here and talk about our team next year.I hope I have cleared this up that its not me, I would hate for you to put one of those many wrestling moves on me tomorrow. |

I will have to introduce my Dad to Papa. I grew up at softball fields across much of North Georgia. Maybe more common ground than I thought...Nice to make your acquaintance today Papa, your Bandits looked good. |

The man that mdwhp is talking about is a fellow softball player that couuld hit the ball a mile. He was known as Mr. Clean and not only played ball in the service with Papa but against Papa across the Southeastern United States.
We called him Mr. Clean and Papa has a ton of respect for this very close friend. I hope that some of his class rubs off on you Cedartown people.
I hope the Latin team lives and that we get to see them play. Papa never looks back and will be moving on from this team but will say Buenos Dias as I ride into the sunset. |

I think it is now official. After my in depth investigation at the Triple Crown Fall State it is obvious that the Spanish Knights do not exist. It was a really good concept and we would have liked to had the opportunity to have played this imaginary team from south of the border but turns out is was all a huge prank. I have imagined that the Bandits played them and wore em out but man this imaginary stuff is nice in that you can't lose.
Papa will miss Manuel and Coach Vega. I did hear one rumor that the Knights only play at night and have no lights so that could explain why we couldn't find them.
You can find Coach Vega at one of the Scorpions games next time they have a black out and by the way that was a cool idea. (All the Coaches, Players, and fans decked out in black) He looks like that Michelin tire guy but dressed in black. |

Coach Vega: Not only does "Buford T" Papa know who you are but I also know that you should have spent your prank time on the baseball field as your team didn't perform as advertised. But don't worry and since you already know Papa you know that I love a good prank and have no problem in laughing at myself. Good job but get back to practice and try to at least get better than tied for 8th next time. And Thanks for letting all the good people that truly would have helped know so that the uniforms can get put to a good use.
And you is one to the best dang chasee's that I have ever chased. |

Bmoser: I thought it would be a nice idea and something nice to read if you would rate the strength and weakness of the final 4 teams at the Triple Crown Fall State tournament. I know that you saw most of them play and most such as myself value your expert opinion. Be nice but let us in on what we should be working on this winter. Give some insight on the other teams also as I saw some that didn't make the final 4 that were certainly skilled and capable. |

PaPa: Final 4 critique: Bandits: strength was hitters knowledge of strike zone, hitting, power game, pitching control, infield defense, tourney strategy, experience. weaknesses: injuries, outfield play, more K's than usual at the plate
Jackets: strength is they don't beat themselves. weakness is lack of power game, both hitting and pitching. I remembered more pitching when we played them.
Team Georgia: have a nice power game hitting and pitching. Also nice team depth and can win the close games. Their games with the Young Guns and Scorpions were both closer than the final score indicated. Need to know how to go small ball when bats go cold...take more walks, bunt, steal.
OTC Young Guns: strong belief in themselves, and mental toughness. Lack team depth, especially at pitching.
Only 1 of these 4 teams had a Major caliber catcher for this tourney, and it showed. I thought opposing coaches could have taken more advantage of that. If you don't have a Major caliber catcher, you wont be a Major caliber team come Spring.

I agree with BMoser and if you guys have the chance to discuss youth baseball in this age group, this man has forgot more than most of us know and is a fountain of information if you are willing to listen.
Do I agree with the above critique of the final 4. "Yes".with some points to be added.
Bandits: I was impressed with the hitting, pitching, overall defense and not so impressed with our outfield although 2 of the highlight plays of the tournament came from our outfield but there were also some plays that should have been made that were not made. I am hoping that the K's is a fall thing as I would bet that no team has fewer K's than the Bandits over the past couple of years but this will be something we work hard on.
Jackets: I understand that this team played well for the tournament but in our game with them they didn't show up but I did watch them prior to our game and they hit the mess out of the ball in this game. Pitching was weak in our game but they may have ran out of innings. Remember this was a Triple Crown Tournament with few innings.
OTC: I only got to watch them a little and found myself asking how they could be in the Final 4. This might go to the belief in themselves and the mental toughness Moser mentioned.
Team Georgia: Nice looking team that reminded me a lot of the Bandits 2 years ago just a much bigger version. The team is as athletic as advertised but baseball is about more than being athletic. Moser hit the nail on the head when he mentioned small ball as moving runners and scoring when you have the opportunity is a huge key to being on the winning end of things in the elite travel ball world.
If you didn't get anything Moser or myself said then just listen to the Catcher thing. Develop that catcher, teach him to release quickly and accurately. Being able to hold the runners and slow down the running game will win you a lot of baseball games. |

Papa knows how you feel bmoser as I can't remember what I had for lunch. Its shaping up like another great year with this 11U bunch and I am so excited that I am not sure that I can make it through the winter months. I will guarantee you that the Bandits will be ready as I plan to put the pressure on Coach Troy. |
