The Dream Team has offical change their name. They will be playing as Team Georgia. We tested the waters this weekend playing up in the 12u tourney in monroe, "Iron Horse Classic". This was a good tournament for us to see how our team will play against tougher competition. The boys did well winning the 12u open baseball tournament. We are looking forward to playing the great teams in 11 major this up and commimg season.

Team Georgia's roster looks as if the have a seasoned team and should be strong. I see theay are currently listed as a AAA team but if they start winning like they should I see them moving up to Major. Good luck Team Georgia.

Why have you guys chosen to be classified as a AAA team if you consider yourself to be Major talent?

There is a BIG difference between winning a tournament against 12 AA teams and playing MAJOR baseball.

If you call Monroe Ga testing the waters you might want to stay away from those EAST COBB teams! There what you would call the Elite of Ga. These teams have been around and together for a long time. These teams have facilities, coaches who have played at the next level, and alot of kids to pull from to get their tallent. This is fall and alot of kids are playing football. If I had a team good enough I would play ya. Let us know how you fair in EAST COBB. Lots of luck to you, and I wish you well Team Georgia....Sounds like your on the right track.

Anyone that has played the elite Georgia teams in the 10U this year and 11U next spring knows that the caliber of competition in the elite group of teams is on par or above par with any in the nation.

Bandits can witness that the best competition to be found can be found at the fields of East Cobb and North Georgia and that if you can win there you can win anywhere in the United States.

I don't think the Dream Team is calling anyone out. I have talked to their Coach and I think he just wants us all to know that he is attempting to play the best so his team can get better. I find no fault with this type thinking. I also find no fault in them believing that they are the best to be found as Bandits would not want it any other way. Bandits believe that we can play with any team on any given day and have passed the test many times. Talk is cheap and can be done by anyone. Standing up to the test of the East Cobb and other Atlanta area teams day by day becomes a lot harder and requires much fortitude and focus.

You will see as the off season gets deeper that the posts get testier as all of us are itching to play and since there are no games we brush up on our smack talk.

I personally know that many teams have made the moves that will make them much stronger than this past year and this is nothing but good news as the better the competition the better our little guys will develop.

You cannot beat your competition if you don't know all of their strengths and hopefully any weakness that they might have. Bandits are well aware that all of you boys have gotten better and that you will be more than up to the challenge for this upcoming year.

But you also know that Papa and the Bandits are not sitting up here with our car in the "idle" mode. We are always searching for ways to improve our team and this includes anything available to us.

If you have gotten so good that you don't need that "stud" pitcher or liftime 740 hitter have him give the Bandits a call. We are always looking.

In my opinion, they have assembled a very strong group of players. If they play to their potential and gel as a team, they will definitely be a force this year in the 11u age group. I met and talked with several of their coaches and Dads. They seem to be like minded in their approach to building a very competitive team. I hope for the sake of their players, coaches, parents and all of youth baseball, they do well this year.

Here's the facts: I saw them play 2 games, 1 pool, 1 bracket, and both games vs same AAA caliber team. I never got to see their top pitchers. Based upon what I did see, they're #1 strength is hitting. 1 homer, several hard hit balls. They committed 4 infield errors and 3 base running gaffes. Several passed balls (not wild pitches). They faced 45-50 mph pitching. Team GA outscored them 17-4 and easily won both games (2nd game was rained out in the 4th w/ Team GA up ~6-0). 1st game ended 11-4.

Here's my opinion: Major caliber team, but have a ways to go to reach Elite status. Need to improve catching, infield focus, base running, and overall mental acuity. Good speed, strong arms, hit for power. Very good team depth. Coaches and fans let the boys play the game. Great addition to the 11U Major ranks. If they add a stud catcher, and reduce mental errors, they could be top 5.

Bmoser honestly I think you are selling them short. They have a very good team. They are better than anyone else we played last year including Holly Springs and 643. BTW, both Holy Springs and 643 are great teams with great coaches.

Not making any excuses but, I can tell you that Team Georgia's catcher only played a partial game Saturday due to illness. He was not even at the ballfield on Sunday.

I think that BMoser's assessment is pretty much dead on in that we need more work in some areas. I think that we will find out exactly where we need work when we face the competition in 11u Major.

Some people on this board seem to have a negative opinion of Team georgia. I hope that if you meet us at the ballfield and talk to us that opinion will change.I think everyone will see that we are just a group of kids and parents that love the game of baseball.

Titan1...I hope I am selling them short! I'd love to have another national powerhouse team from Georgia. I watched some Elite 32 10u games in Disney last month, so have a pretty solid frame of reference. Errors, passed balls, and base running gaffes are rare at the Elite level. This is only Fall, so they have plenty of time to fine tune their game. After they beat the Bandits, Sox, or 6-4-3, you can tell me you told me so. They have it w/in their reach for sure.

I think that it could be said of all the teams that they need to work on certain areas to get better. We are all looking to improve day by day and game by game.

BMoser, If Im not mistaken , were they playing against 12 U in this tourny ? I have heard different points of view were they that good or was the competition not that good?

every team is working out the bugs and trying to improve right now, this sounds like the case with this team. But saying they could be a top 5 is pretty high praise, anyone else that has seen this team play feel the same way ?

It was an 11u tourney. 10 teams were split into Gold/Silver Divisions. Gold: Team GA, SS-Blue (with 2 Midway, 1 EC,& 2 Duluth boys filling in), Suwanee Storm (8 N.Gwinnett-Red & 3 SS-Silver), Collins Hill, Mill Creek-Red. All AAA/Major teams. Team GA was hardest hitting team by far. The tourney rained out after the 1st bracket game Sunday where Collins Hill got eliminated by SS Blue. Next game had Team GA beating Suwanee Storm 6-0 after 3 innnings, then the rains came. If I were awarding trophy's:
1st Team GA (2-0 pool, up 6-0 in 1st bracket game)
2nd Mill Creek-Red (2-0 pool)
3rd SS Blue (1-1 pool, won 1st bracket game)
4th Suwanee Storm (1-1 pool, down 0-6 in 1st bracket)
5th Collins Hill (0-2 pool, lost 1st bracket game)

Collins Hill won last weeks 10-team tourney in Cumming beating the Carterville Rookies who are the #3 ranked Little League team in GA, (a Major team). This shows the depth of this tourney in Flowery Branch. This Fall has been way different than any I've seen from a skill level standpoint, and in the # of teams playing.

Team Georgia is for real! They must eliminate the mental errors to reach top 5, but they already have the physical ability. JC1964 saw much of what I saw over the last 2 weekends.

I think the key thing with Moser is that he saw them multiple games and is not basing his conclusion on a one game shot. There have been games that you would think the Bandits are a bunch of stinkers but if you watch them day in day out you know that they can play the game.

I don't know what opinion some of the Cooperstown fans might have had of the Bandits after the San Diego Stars game that we stunk the place up but I do know that we did get a lot of respect for our entire book of work in Cooperstown.

This is a whole new year. Bandits for the most part are playing the hand we finished Cooperstown with while many others have made impressive moves and combined with other great teams to form a "Super Team" but the truth always stays elusive until we all get to the finish line. The great thing about the greater Atlanta area is that the competition always pushes us all to our limit and that in the long run is what makes our teams stronger.

What this all amounts to is what should be another great year of baseball for this age group.

Moser: Have you heard the RBI Hawks, Mizuno Glory, and Bobcats from Florida have combined the very best of these teams and formed what appears to be a "GIANT" of a team.

Yes, we had some situations that arose with some our players. One of our players got hit with a line drive while pitching in our last tournament, in which he had to have five stitches above the eye and three cracks in the eye socket around the lower part of the eye. We also have three of our players that have football games that Saturday. With only 10 players on our active roster at the moment we have decided to take a few weeks off and just practice. We really regretted having to pull out of the tournament , but hope to see all these great teams in the future. Thanks, Longball1
