Wow, Mutt's. Looks like you boys have been working hard this fall and learning some things. That is great, for a team that was put together strictly for the purpose of working on fundamentals and getting a lot of good work in. Nice reward for a lot of hard work. I am impressed. |

I guess the Mutts experiment worked. This might become more of a trend next Fall based on their success. Kind of wish my kid hadn't played FB this fall. I'd be interested in some feedback on why this team has worked so well together in such a short amount of time. |

My son is on the team. I don't know how exactly they got the rest of the boys, but you would be hard pressed to get a better bunch of kids who also happen to be pretty good baseball players. They work hard and have good attitudes. And they're good.
The practices are productive and the coaches have challenged the boys with tough opponents on the non-tournament weekends. Plus the parents have been really positive and supportive.
They have emphasized getting better, not winning. Guess what, they got better and they won. The bar has been set pretty high for me for next Spring. |

If the Stallions have only 4 players on the Mutts, who are the other teams that have players on this squad? Busy with FB, have no idea who is on the Mutts roster, do know that to beat CM you have to have alot of talent,sounds like these guys are getting alot of great off season coaching. |

I think the other teams represented on this squad, besides the 3 or 4 from the Stallions, are:
A couple from SP Wildcats, 3 or 4 from EC Astros, 1 from Paulding Co., 1 from the Kennesaw Mustangs, 2 from GA Titans. I can't think of any other teams, but apologize if I left any off.
We have played a few games with them and, to me, the greatest thing is the friendships that have been made. There are kids playing together that probably would not normally have crossed paths for an extended period of time. Now when the teams, listed above, are at the same tournament, the boys will be able to cheer for each other and interact a lot more than they would have before.

they have players off the EC Stallions, EC Astros, PC Vipers, SP Wildcats among others. Team is stacked. So, in reality, its not an experiment. The team is doing what it should do with players from that level. Its also good for the lower division teams to play against that type of competition in order to get better. As a coach on a AAA team, I have no problem playing better teams. We might get smacked this time, but next time hopefully we will be a little more competitive etc. Its all about getting better. You cant play with the big dogs unless you try. |

Remember, though bigdog, the players for this team were not "Selected". It was put together in response to the post Scott put on this board, for a place for kids to play other than in their local rec league. I just don't want to dimish all the hard work the players and coaches (not including myself in that reference) did this off season to make the kids better. I would say there was some experimentation to it, but looks like a successful one none-the-less. The players should be proud of what they have learned and accomplished this fall season. |

Greg is accurate relative to the 2008 teams our Mutts will play on. To give you a better idea of who is on the team, here are the 2007 11U teams the kids played on:
* Sandy Plains Wildcats (2) - if you count Greg's son * Sandy Plains Prowlers (1) * Sandy Plains 12U Trojans (1) * Oregon Park Dawgs (2) * East Cobb Yankees (1) * Cherokee Reds (1) * East Cobb Cardinals (1) * Georgia Titans (3) * Kennesaw Mustangs (1)
They were the first 12 kids that contacted me. So no "stacking" was involved. We've been really blessed to get to know these kids and their families. What a great group!! |

I agree Greg. The players have played well together. Congrats to the Mutts. Are the Mutts going to play any other tournaments this fall? I didnt see them listed anymore under the Triple Crown Fall State. |

Big Dog:
Other than a Sunday doubleheader with the Roswell Hornets and South Forsyth War Eagles on the 21st, we're done for the Fall. It will have been a 17 game schedule including the two tournaments.
