ECB finally put distance banners up for fields 4-6-7-8. There is NO WAY that 7 and 8 are 250 ft. What is the rationale for this? Every parent, kid, coach, etc that comes to the park laughs at them. You can hit a ball off the fence and be thrown out at first and always at 2nd...

I would assume the 250 means that it "plays 250" - the distance plus the height of the fence.

I actually paced that field 2 weeks ago. It was like 215 down the line and at most 225 to center. But as some will say here...the field at Mt. Bethel is much worse!!!!! hahahahaha

So those of you who know stuff: what are the dimensions of 1 2 3 and 5? Inquiring minds need to know.

You can pull any field up on Google Earth and measure it.

I used a Range finder on 4, 5, and 6 recently and here is what I measured from home plate to the fence. You will have to make adjustment for the fence height.

Field 4 - LF: 255' CF: 255' RF: 255'
Field 5 - LF: 285' CF: 309' RF: 285'
Field 6 - LF: 255' CF: 255' RF: 255'

From Google Earth, here is what fields 7 and 8 appear to be. Both field 7 and 8 had 8' tall chainling fence along the outfield about 3-4 years ago. They were removed and the field was extended to the block wall which added 10-15 feet to the fields so that they could push some 11U and 12U games when needed.

Field 7 - LF: 210' CF: 210' RF: 210' (LF banner states 250', Ha!)
Field 8 - LF: 208' CF: 211' RF: 224'

The signs are BS. Off speed has it correct. That is the distance to the fence. 7 and 8 are a uniform radius from the plate. Meaning it is impossible for center to be farther than left or right.

However, when a boy hits it out of center on field 8, you can bet he tells his buddies he hit it 275'. :) So I guess it's fun for the boys, and that's what matters.
