Agree looks like there are excellent 13u teams, but I think the 12u teams will do well.

Not sure what you mean the 12u will do well. They might beat a team in pool and end up in the bronze div. or slip into the silver and be 1 and done. No way they see gold.

Well, the east cobb braves are gonna get the chance to find out, I think they play HP Black and Gwinnet elite. Tuff pool play for them.
But I would caution anyone to not take these 12u teams lightly.

Braves are good no doubt, but remember what happened to them last year playing up in the cooperstown warmup classic. One year makes a huge difference. I see them going to bronze or silver and getting beat there with the other 12U teams. Anything can happen in baseball but the odds are not in their favor.

Looks like some of the projections I've seen around have not held up:

Alpharetta A's brought their "A" game (pardon the pun) to earn Gold. I didn't see anyone pick them for Gold.

EC Black Knights had a rough slog through the pool and wont make Gold.

EC Titans dropped a pool game and gave up too many runs to make Gold.

EC Cobras lost both pool games and didn't make Gold.

That's Baseball.

And the 12U teams realize what one year difference in age makes.

I am usually way off on any predictions but seem to have been dead on here.

Tball, "one and done in silver" .....lol. We're not a T-ball team...lol

HITANDRUN, the way I see it, the 12u teams did better than many 13u teams. Making silver and many close games. Saw a lot of 13u teams get knocked out in 1st game and many that didn't make it to a higher classification that probably should have? Considering our 12u team has never practiced the 13u distances they did extremely well!

Hurricane, the only difference that affected us was our pitchers haven't pitched at 54 feet. Never even practiced these distances. We hit and defended just as good as most!

Great Job EC Rays

What is everyone's opinion on the Astro's Coach quitting after the semi's? Should there be repercussions?

Hi Gwinnett,
I really dont think anyone (well at least I wasnt) trying to slight these boys .You already know this 13U age group is very very deep in talent. Your boys should be commended for stepping up to the challenge win or lose. They will definetly be better for it next w/e in there age group.

Looks like the Braves gave two very good teams a run for their money in pool play and the Rays made it to Silver and won a bracket game. Good job 12U teams!

Braves are for real. Great defense, well coached and the ss will be playing Div 1 somewhere in a few years..BTW did anyone see what the Astros coach did. Forfeited the championship to Stixx. Almost started a riot. The excuse was we did not want to play 4 games. Congratulations to Stixx Baseball and shame on you Astros. Both teams were to play 4 games. I am sure the parents will have the last word.Astros "all limitations are self imposed"

bmoser, my thoughts...well never mind, how about REALLY!!! Reprecussions... yes, would love to see ECB remove him from coaching!Hate to see anything done that would affect the boys who have done nothing wrong other than see how the game should NOT be played. Would love to see PLAYERS ranked in the top 5 but not the name Astros!!

My Stixx team played 5 games in less than 36 hours in East Cobb this weekend and had all me bullets left in my gun for the 6th game which would have been the championship game. And then walk out on the field to play the championship game and see the Astros coach coming to tell me that they are going to QUIT and go home because he felt that his players didn't need to play 4 games in a row.All I have to say is that we don't play the game of baseball like that. They make it that they are bigger than the game. They should have quit the game before that when the Pride took them to extra innings and let the Pride play in the ship.
I know that we are from the south and nobody wants to give us any credit, but we came up there and played a 43 team tournament with the best teams in the state not counting the Bandits and walked away with the ship. And if we would have played the final game we would have still left there with the GOLD.

Freddy,

Completely agree with you. The Exalted Ones have proven little, and when given the chance, chose to walk away from it rather than be beaten on the field. In my opinion, you and your boys earned 100% of your championship and are definitely the better team. Anyone that tries to lessen what you accomplished because of what the opponent pulled is just blowing smoke.

Congrats!

What that coach done was a disgrace to their organazition and especially to the young men of the Astros. If my son was there we would be looking for another team by now, or I would have been going to jail because me and the coach would have had a real big problem. LOL The parents of the Astros should have the coach put to the curb. As for the young mean I don't believe that I would have any respect for him and it would be hard to follow him on the diamond for war.

The coach of the East cobb Astros failed his players and parents . They wanted to play and he quit on them and in the championship game . Very coward move , in over 25 years as coach and player never seen a coach walk out and hand the other team the trophy rather than PLAY THE GAME . Congrats Stixx you were the best team in this tourney . Good luck to you in Auburn ! if you make it ot finals I doubt Bandits will just QUIT !

When you have 40 something teams in a tournament and most are 13 more than half will be sent to the Silver and Bronze Divisions. I guess I am saying the chances of a 12U team winning a 13U Major tournament or getting close is slim to none unless you are an elite team. I think it's great to play up and will make your team stronger in the coming weeks.

What if the Astro's Coach was following an East Cobb Policy for the 13U EC Astro's team (as I have read elsewhere)? It was pointed out that the 14U Astro's played 4 games in a single day, and the EC Pride were prepared to play 4 games Sunday. Could the rule be so specific that it applies to only the 13U EC Astro's for 2011-12 season? If so, should the 13U Astro's Coach have entered this tourney knowing this was a potential conflict? If he didn't know about potentially having to play 4 games Sunday, how could he have missed that? Do you think he saw it coming, and planned to pull out all along? Do you think he didn't count on making it that far?

I'm also wondering how you run out of pitching with 16 players. Were some not there Sunday?. Are several injured?

If East Cobb has a policy that 1 or more teams cannot play 4 games, should Tourney Directors prohibit those teams from entering their tourneys to protect their other customers from being disappointed like this? What should Triple Crown do about this? USSSA? Should Tourney Directors change their formats? Should they allow teams to enter that they know may not play a 4th game? Should all the other teams entered be made aware of this teams policy prior to paying entry fees?

bmoser, NO such policy about 4 games, at least not on our 12u team. Heck, we would have played 5 that day for a chance to play Stixx in the ship! I'm in SHOCK they just forfeited the game. Maybe, if they all were sick???

bmoser - I'm wondering the same thing. After one of our coaches contacted EC yesterday, your feelings would be correct. They are only concerned about one EC team. The EC Pride would've played Sunday in the Championship game.

It's funny how everything worked out because now everyone knows the next time.

When is the LakePoint Sports complex going to open? Is it still scheduled for 2013? This will make things very interesting because then EC won't be the only big venue in town. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

22202 - I'm not sure what the reaction was but some of our parents said that the Astro's players were outside the fence with their parents getting ready for the Championship game when they heard the news. Some one said there was a chant that started "let them play, let them play" but I didn't hear that myself.

It doesn't matter anymore and what's done is done. These parents are the ones that have to decide if that's what they want to be apart of. I just don't know of any other team that would've done that. No one!
