You just learn to live with it...Until you are the top dog, you will have to work a little harder. Good lessons for the kids...learn to not only beat the team but deal with unfair circumstances, it will make them stronger! |

It's tough to argue against the pool chatter that has been going on...

My son has played at East Cobb, and I'll admit pools seemed to be stacked in favor of EC teams. Biggest problem from my point of view is that East Cobb teams get to host the big tournaments because they have the fields. And it sure looks like they take full advantage. I guess when you play there you just have to expect to play uphill. |

Take a look at pool A, easy walk all the way through for sandy plains. Now look at pool E. That's a tough one. D isn't much better. B and C are one sided also. |

To quote Lee Corso, "Not so fast my friends!" That bunch from Cartersville is not your ordinary AA team and the Dirtbags from Alabama are not going to roll over for the Astros. Every team I have seen from our neighbors to the West have been scrappy and hard nosed. Cartersville has a couple of kids that could start for anyone on the bump, they are well coached and can hit the ball. I don't think Coach Wes went to Bubba and said, "I want to play the Crush and Dirtbags." We may be suprised with the outcome of these games, may be not. After all, these boys are 12 years old. |

Come on all you conspiracy theorist, the only blatant pool fixing was that the Gainesville Braves should have been in the pool B, but somehow, by the grace of the USSSA's "handsoff" manipulations, the Crush were moved to pool B to play the Astros. Additionally, the RBA Titans and the Blue Chip Bulls should have been swapped according to the Pooling procedure. I am sure all of this will be justified to meet the scheduling needs of the Bulls coming from SC.... LOL I am pretty certain there are many teams that would have gladly traded the Bulls Friday night 8:15 pm game for a 8:30 AM game on Saturday.
Pools determined in order of the USSSA points Majors, AAA, AA: A1 G91263003139 Oxford Swarm BBboys12Maj B1 G91258020679 East Cobb Astros BBboys12Maj C1 G91258019249 RBA Titans Baseball BBboys12Maj D1 G91250021348 Blue Chip Bulls BBboys12Maj E1 91258016940 Alpharetta Titans BBboys12Maj E2 G91258022570 Hobgood Thrashers BBboys12Maj D2 G91258015512 6-4-3 DP Cougars BBboys12Maj C2 91258011354 Parkview Panthers BBboys12Maj B2 G91258022792 Georgia Select Red BBboys12Maj A2 91258004767 Ninth Inning Royals BBboys12Maj A3 G91258021345 Sandy Plains Wildcat BBboys12Maj B3 G91263000586 Dirtbags BBboys12AAA C3 G91263021798 BIRMINGHAM LIONS BBboys12AAA D3 G91258017237 Alpharetta A's BBboys12AAA E3 G91258019095 East Cobb Spartans BBboys12AAA E4 91258022567 East Cobb Titans BBboys12AAA D4 G91258021892 Midway Mavericks BBboys12AAA C4 91258014935 Smash Baseball BBboys12AAA B4 G91258023874 Gainesville Braves BBboys12AAA A4 G91258024775 Cartersville Crush BBboys12AA

I just saw where its also interesting that they are on the side of the bracket with only the #1 seed from pool B. The other 3 #1's are on the other side of the bracket. RBA, Sandy plains, Alph Titans and a couple others are all gonna have to fight each other while the Astros are riding the gravy train to the finals. |

The problem is with Usssa not East Cobb. Usssa say they have a formula to go by to seed teams into pool play by usssa points. It seems this formula only exist when they want it to. They advertise the points as being advantageous to get you to play tournaments with them, Has anyone seen a rule that says they must seed tournaments by points? I haven't, and until they make it a rule that the seedings must go by an exact formula based on points, points will mean absolutely nothing, and for that reason we will be playing with other organizations. |

I am not sure what the big surprise is...it's the Astros Invitational; they have the right to ensure the easiest path to the ship game. Being surprise by the match ups is about as laughable as people wondering if ECB teams "ECB" calls during ECB tournaments. Get over it and learn to live with it. |

BONECOLLECTOR...By choosing to play with other arganizations you will never get to play the best competition and after all thats why you play "TRAVELBALL" to start with. |

Glenn Newton when the Braves did it last yr in the battle of the south not one word was said so why was that ok and now that someone else is doing it everybody has something to say. If you do not like it then just don't play. |

Cartersville Crush parent here....We kinda talked about this one and knew when we joined the tournament that we would be the biggest long shot. But as Rakin stated above, we do have a couple of kids that can bring it. We were really hoping to play the Astros. Not that we think we can win, but we were really just kind of wanting to see where our boys stacked up. We jumped into this one to take our lumps and try to get better. It's All Good. I'm thinking Astros, SP Wildcats, or 643 will take the ship in this one. Wish us luck tonight. |

Sure is nice of the ECBraves to head to Savannah and give the Astros a chance to win one in the backyard!
WHDADDY, I think the battle of the South pools received much of the same scrutiny on the board last year in more than one thread

iirc, the bravos received plenty of grief for the easy schedule and bracket which saw most of the top teams being placed opposite of em. Funny thing though, they got beat along the way and didn't make it to the final game. |

It's pretty simple why we don't use the points system to set the pools for the Battle of the South. I can say with 100% certainty that all of the out of town teams have no desire of traveling all the way to ECB to play someone from their own backyard which would likely happen if we used points to determine pools. Most teams enjoy playing teams they may never see in any other event. We will again make sure teams are seeded into pools with other teams that they haven't played on a normal basis. There are a load of competitive teams coming so everyone will have to come ready to play regardless of pool seedings.
I think it all worked out last year as arguably the 2 best teams made it to the 'ship.

GA Select Red has the inside track to finish 1st in pool so Astros will be on the other side of the bracket. |

Impressive run for the Alpha A's, beating a couple of major teams along the way in Hobgood and SP Wildcats. Also, 643 with a couple of quality wins, gotta love this time of the season.
Can anyone stop the stros? I hear the Alpha titans want this semi final game but do they have any pitching left?? |
