Great batch of games...Congratulations to the Claws for pulling it out at the end...For those of us that were lucky enough to see the game, I am sure we can all agree on how much of a treat it was to watch such a close game. RBA had an opportunity to win being down by two in the last inning with runners on 1st and 2nd with their number 4 hitter at the plate. Unfortunately the Hollywood ending never had a change to manifest itself out, when on a pass ball one of the runners was thrown out at second for the final out. |

I was at these games and I hate to be the spoiler, but I must disagree with some of the comments about sportsmanship and class acts. I watched a coach berate his players, quit coaching mid-game and literally check out quite noticeably during play, yell at umpires, and not once shake/slap the hands of the opposing team players. This was the most arrogant display of sportsmanship that I've seen in a long time. We should not excuse or tolerate this behavior. Since this magnificent leadership was on display in multiple games, I would love to know how several came away with such high opinions of how things went.
All that being said, the tournament was well run. The players and families were great, and the matchups really showed the talent of some great teams. This format was a true test of depth and talent. All showed well. |

FLABB, looks like your post got deleted before I could respond. I'm sure I won't be allowed to name names, but if your writers watched all of the games they posted about, it won't be hard to figure it out. It was brazen, obnoxious, and virtually impossible to miss.

This was the same coach that went off on a kid in Orange Beach. When will something be done about this the kids are 12yrs old. If a coach ever went off on my son like that I would put my foot so far up his ....... right their on the feild and get bail money from the other parents. It need to stop. |

I think most know who this coach is and some of the stuff I've seen is downright scary when it comes to the way his team is managed, most would expect much more from a flagship team and paid coach. Not sure how those families put up with it, you want to teach your son commitment to a team but when it's abusive then the line is drawn.
Sportsmanship starts right at the top and needs to be set by the top guy, teach the game and be a leader of young men. |

Spoke to the interns and it is now 100 per cent clear at this point.

Daddy you are right and to quote Charlie Sheen: Winning!
This is a repost of my comments from the topic you started a while back:
Posted - 04/05/2012 : 22:47:46 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speaking from the North Florida perspective since we are really south Georgia anyway here it is in b/w.
Parent apathy has gotten out of hand and it is mostly due to winning. If said team is winning then it is overlooked but if said team is not then it becomes an issue. This is backwards thinking. I can tell you this, we have a few teams in our area that have abrasive "I do not give a sh&@" type coaches that incorporate cursing and talk about adult topics in front of the players (some as low as 11u). This is from both teams who win and do not win. Those coaches will be displaced at the next level oddly enough (you know who you are)!
I agree once the 13 year olds are settled in and in it for the long haul then the PG-13 rule can come to the forefront. For the love of Pete at least let the kids enjoy one more year before it becomes a chore if they continue to the next level.

The UsssA suspended the TPX B team head coach for an expletive filled outburst in St. Agustine about a month ago and had a stern talking to one of our Cuda coaches earlier in the year when he and the TPX main team coach acted like bodybuilders flexing and yelling at each other. The best outcome was that our coach turned over a new leaf especially when the parents called a meeting with the coaches and laid it on the line. We told him he is not in his 20s anymore, embarrassed us and needs to work out. He admited he was wrong and was suspended inhouse. We need more of this type of stand up actions like this and fines to stop the crazieness. We had to nip it in the bud because this type of behavior will keep happening and it tends to be the same coaches over and over that never learn. If our asst has not learnd his lesson and does it again he is gone. |
