Whatever. TPX can compete with any major team and have proved they are the strongest 12u team in north florida.

On the outcome. Exactly! That is the difference between a Major and a AAA team and coaching.

Not sure I understand your logic. The difference between a "major" and "aaa" team is one play. Or is it the loss? If that was the case the Stealth really are not a major team because they have not beaten Team Florida or CF Gators.

Sadly this forum has become a public blog for cryptic attacks on coaches, teams, parents, etc. However, what is lost is that those attacks take away from accomplishments of many 12 year old boys that play very good baseball - NO MATTER WHAT TEAM YOU PREFER OR CHEER FOR.

There was some great baseball played this weekend. Our area was fortunate to host some good teams (both in D1 and D2), such as the Stealth, Pride, Bushnell, LandSharks, Prospects, Gators and Futures Baseball. IMO the Stealth are a very good "major" team. They were ranked in the top 20 teams in the nation last year and should be be this year as well.

Our local teams all did well in the Journey to the Stars -- TPX (2nd place), Blue Claws (tied for 3rd) and Riverhawks (tied for 5th). Also, our local teams really are local -- kids all live in this area and practice with their teams.

Great tournament with many great games. The championship was a great game and from what I heard the game between the BCs and Riverhawks was also. That is great for our local baseball.

Here are the final results with overall records for the tourney:
1. Stealth (5-0)
2. TPX (4-1)
3. Futures Baseball (2-2)
Blue Claws (2-2)
5. Bushnell (2-1)
Riverhawks (1-2)
American Pride (1-3)
Maitland Gators (1-3)
9. Landsharks (1-2)
Top Prospects (0-3)

Good luck to all the Jax teams for the remainder of the spring season - and if Team TPX cannot win I hope it is the BCs or Riverhawks, or another local team.

Hold on a second. All of my posts are positive with positive opinionated information. If it had a negative tone on this one it was due to my reaction to Rb08 taking a jab at my picks and telling me to stick to 13u. I am proud of all the players in this tournament at all the age groupings and how my child played. We run a fundamental system that is based on Faith as per my previous post (look it up in teams looking for players).

Just tell Rb08 to tone it down as I assume you know him.

Bottom line is the only Major team out there at 12 was the Stealth. I know it hurts the ego of many people and coaches but you can see it on the field with thier players and coaching. There is a distinct difference.

That excludes the team my kid is on and in my opinion the others as much as we all would like to be in that elite group. It is 12 yo baseball and any team can beat any other on any given day. The difference is consistency. Yep TPX has been consistent within our local competition so in that manner they are a major when you rank them locally. But on a regional not to mention national level they stack up a little bit short. Who knows if you keep improving that may change. Keep it up.

According to the usssa site thay are rated inside of the top 100 in the nation in the major division. I think that is pretty good for a team just starting to get its feet under them. You said it and I agree there is still room for improvment but I do believe that improving is the intention.

Is it spring was talking about power rating and I agree. I just mentioned points because TPX has accumalated a fair amount of points over a short stretch of tournaments. I understand you cant put alot of stock in points because some teams will play alot of tourneys and never win while adding to there point total.

USSSA points only indicates the teams that play the most tourneys and have the means to do so. Chances are that there is a team that has nothing to do with USSSA or travel ball that would beat any team out there hands down.

You are correct to a degree. However, teams with the greatest USSSA points generally earned greater point totals by playing in (and generally doing well) in the bigger and more competitive tournaments, such as NITs and Super NITS. A winning team can earn upto 300 points at a Super NIT.

No system is perfect -- that is why you really have to give it to Team Florida last year. They won all the big tournaments --- Battle of the South in Atlanta (48 teams from all over SE) and Elite 32. They only lost 1 time in the 11u age group.

The Battle of the South this year will be a great test for many teams --- including a few local Jax teams (Hurricanes, TPX and Blue Claws). Again there likely will be some 48 teams from all over the SE. The big tourneys that draw the quality teams from a large geographical area really is the only way to compare teams.

I respectfully disagree that there is a team out there that has nothing to do with travel ball that would beat any team out there. To get better you have to play good competition and playing rec ball is not the type of competition that will push a very talented team to get better. Also, if there was such a team word would get out and the good travel teams would want to play them ----- or sadly recruit away that team's better players if the coach refused to play in some travel tournaments. Without opining whether it is right or wrong, I just think that is the current state of youth baseball IMO.
