I just hope that everyone gets along and that there are no bad feelings in between any teams, maybe at the end we can get all teams, coaches, umpires, and fans to go on the field and take a picture of everyone partaking in a giant group hug. Oh, but then again it is baseball and it is going to be competative, and there are going to be emotions, I hope everyone is ready for it. I do believe in respecting the game and the kids, But Bobby Cox, the legend(and rightfully so) was thrown out of more games than anyone. He did not participate in baseball to make the opposing teams happy. Go TPX |

The group hug thing may not be as sardonic an idea as you pose it to be. In NFL and college football many get together and pray. The kids, coaches and parents need to leave it on the competitive field. I admit I had to learn this lesson and it was from my father who came to see me coach over a weekend. He did not say a word to me till the tourney was over on Sunday. He told me to let go of my arrogance, be a mentor to the kids and parents and to reengage as a student of the game from the coaching perspective. That was my wake up call. He simply brought me back to the roots that he fostered in me when he coached me and then handed me off to a legion ball coach.
I have to admit my ego was involved up until then. I am here for the kids more so now.
Emotions are expected but coaches primarily need to keep them in check. Of course we are ready for emotions it is a sport. I coach the kids to be ready for the ups and downs and subsequently there is less pouting and I feel that is cause my approach has simmered and the players know if they make a mistake we will break it down to them in a respectful manner.
To compare this to Bobby Cox as an MLB coach where cursing does go on is nonsensical. That is part of the Show. To compare this to 12 year old travel ball is ludicrous. I know Bobby personally and he would not condone cursing in front of youth baseball. If he were in attendance at a youth ball game he would run out anyone who yelled or cursed in front of adolescents.

After reading that on second thought we may not want a doubleheader or extra inning game. Unbelievable. We will just stay undefeated versus your Maj team. And you guys can have the virtual victories. |

Staff Report filed by JW 11:01 am Tpx over Threshers 5-2. Solid play on both ends. Tpx coach made some tactical errors as well as Threshers. Tpx spent innings on two go to pitchers per our research on past tourneys. Threshers are saving pitching could be a negligible if bracket requires extra game.
Average defense and Coaches need to tone it down a notch with the demeaning speak
St. Pete Saints VS. Tampa Bulls Tie. Best game so far could have gone either way. Was only able to watch a portion due to main assignment. Evenly matched play. A bit more aggressiveness on bases may have allowed Bulls to put one across..
Staff Report filed by AH 11:10 am Osceola Thunder 12u white over 12u Miracles Navy 6-2 Osceola Thunder use aces but have easier pool game on paper so may be ok. Miracles could not get bats on track. Partly due to pitching and weak approaches. Defense good on both sides.
Staff Report filed by AH 3:07 pm west florida young guns 12u VS. jacksonville blueclaws-navy Tie Conservative game. WFYG had edge in pitching and offense but did not capitalize. Navy used one of the aces to make sure they locked in at a min the tie. Could hurt vs Stealth later today. Best game I have seen so far. Coaches very vocal.
Staff Report filed by JW 04:01 pm Tampa Venom VS. Team TPX 6-2 Strong bats by Tampa and unusual lack of bats and errors by TPX were the story of the game. TPX used Sat pitching and to their surprise TV jumped all over them. TPX tried to mount a comeback but could not get the key hit or move the runner over. Well played by the coaching staff of Tampa Venom.

Some teams and probably not the players but the parents may need that group hug as of now.

Yes per my staff writers they were. I am on vacation due to my two weeks in HOTlanta. The staff covered some of the wrong games in 12u and the other brackets but our photo guy got some great shots and mostly from the games we had not documenter on. We will be unable to cover 12u today so it will be up to the grapvine to report anything second hand.
Just from a quick look and talk with staff. There is plenty of good pitching available for all teams and games should be low scoring great ballgames. ========= Got lucky here are some updates from friends of the program (thanx Matt and Jon):
12U MIRACLES NAVY BLUE 9 JACKSONVILLE BLUECLAWS-NAVY 1 Surpising upset by AAA team over Major consistent Blueclaws. Offensive onslaught and inability of Navy Claws to hit caused this lopsided upset. The Miracles were up for this game and played great baseball.
OSCEOLA THUNDER 12U WHITE 12 TEAM RAWLINGS GATORS 9 What a shootout and display of power. Rawlings is really coming along nicely but fell short. Great pitching, defense and coaching on both sides especially that dynamic duo on Osceola.
