We've played Florida teams and Ga teams and had the unfortunate opportunity of playing the Michigan team in their first bracket game. After watching them run out their 6 foot plus stud pitcher we quickly realized that we were playing a major team. Kid was clocked throwing upper 70's and coach said he has a cutter he throws upper sixties. Our evaluation is simple they are the only team who can compete with the Florida teams.... Team Florida, central florida gators and Gainesville ghosts and little Caesars are the big boys of 12U.....of course this doesn't include the rec ball teams in the Miami area who never see a travel tourney but would dominate most ga teams! Anyone who saw that Michigan team saw the best team in the tourney!

Am I missing something, are you talking about the MI team that went 1-2. Im not seeing the correlation between the “best team in the tournament” and “a 1-2 team”? I just checked, both MI teams went 1-2 and did not make it to bracket play?!? Just because a team has a pitcher that allegedly throws in the 70’s doesn’t make them the team to beat.

I don't understand your post, are you referring to the Little Caesars Blue team that won the AAA group or the Orange team went 1-2 in majors? So the Gainesville Ghosts and Little Caesars should be included in the same breathe as Team FL and CF Gators? Also, the Blue team won the AAA tourney so yes they are the best team in the tourney.

I have not seen either team play but the Ghosts are only 11-9 vs other major teams, hardly dominating in my view. Also, what the heck do kids playing rec ball in Miami have to do with travel baseball here?

They out scored their opponents in bracket play 45-1 leading into the championship and won that game 9-6..... Outscoring your opponents 54-7 in bracket play is crazy and they could have scored more against us if they wanted....Not sure they were AAA?

Hey T13. Are you referring to the Little Ceasers team that was in the AAA S-NIT? I heard the "AAA" team was a beast, but the "Major" team looked a little rusty. However, they always pick it up by the end of the season. I have to agree with Newt in this one and state that there are several Georgia teams that can compete with and beat the Michigan teams. After a few of the Georgia teams get a few more games under their belts, they will also be able to compete with the Florida teams.

Thanks for the clarification! From what I have heard, that bunch was not a AAA team! Especially when you see how the major team faired. To your point, there were some pretty good teams in that AAA bracket. When you look at the majors, not even TF or CFG blew through the bracket the way LC did in AAA.

I believe that they went 1-1 with the North Gwinnett team that they beat in the finals. North Gwinnett beat them in pool play 12-10.

I don't post on this message board very often, but on this subject, I just had to chime in.........The Little Caesars's 12U - Blue AAA baseball team was one of the most talented teams we had every played against or watched play at their respective level. The kid who threw 78-79 mph was very impressive and they could hit like very few teams can. I mean no disrespect to all the elite GA teams. I am a big fan and supporter of GA baseball. I believe it's some of the best in the country. We have OUTSTANDING/ ELITE teams in Georgia like EC Braves, Stealth, EC Longhorns, EC Astros, GA Grays, etc) Please, Please dont be offended if I didnt mention your team.......The AAA Michian team would be an outstanding matchup with any of these elite GA teams. I would pay to see it. They rolled over many sound AAA teams with little effort (I know there is a difference between AAA and Major :)......) The team that played in AAA this past weekend was at the Elite Major level........no dought about it......Very impressive!

Like I said in another topic, I didn't do my homework on the Pizza pizza group prior to the tournament and picked NG Bulldogs to win the title. Looks as if though NG was a good match up for them so I guess need to ask is NG out of classification also? Looks like the pizza pizza gang soundly defeated NG in the ship but I didn't actually see that game to make a comparrison.

We played the LC Blue team in our first pool game. They were very solid, defensively and they appeared to throw typical saturday pitchers at us and we did the same. We came from 3+ runs down twice and felt lucky to get out of that game with a 12-10 win. We were very surpised to learn they had outscored their bracket opponents 45-1, based on our first game as their offense did not appear to us to be anything special for a AAA team.

In the 'ship their starter was sitting around 62-63 but touched 65-66 a couple of times. But he had a hard time finding the zone and we jumped on him in the top of the 1st for 2 runs on a 2-3 hits and a couple of hit batters. It was basically back and forth that way with the lead until the game ended. The big field made a difference as both teams had 2 run homers hit to the gaps that rolled to the fence. They definitely had the look of a Major team in this game, more so than the first game of the tourney.

This LC Blue team had plenty of firepower and gloves to compete at the Major level. I can't say their hitting looked like a top Major team, but they did have enough offense to beat us and plenty of fresh arms. We enjoyed the challenge of playing a talented team like them.

The AAA field I thought was pretty strong this year.

The LC team and parents and coaches were a delight. The coaches are doing it for the right reasons and the parents were a delight. They wanted to get some good work in early in the year when the weather is usually bad up there. They had no expectation but to get better which they did.

Sometimes we lose sight in Fla and even in Ga of how lucky we are to have baseball weather almost year round.
