Does anyone know why the Astros aren't playing in the ATL SNIT? Was looking forward to seeing them play.

looks like the stros are in the TC tourney which I assume will be at east cobb, perhaps the long road trip to florida has worn on them.

any chance we can get team florida and cf gators on the same side of the bracket to give some teams a chance to make the final show?? I might have to fly in 4-5 dominican kids just to win.

Makes no sense, traveled 6 hours to a SNIT but won't drive 45min to the biggest SNIT of the year??????

How does the out of town teams get Friday night games and teams from this area have to play 3 games on Saturday? You get to pitch your stud Friday. You make it to Sunday he is ready to go again.

You are correct bravesfan, the 12u East Cobb Astros have entered a AA/AAA tournament at EC.

Now, now fellas! Take it easy on the Astros. Those fields down South are not as nice as the ones at ECB and they are still trying to gel as most teams are this time of the year. Don't want to potentially go 3 and out in your home state. May be its best to cut your teeth at home in a lower profile tournament, gain some confidence and step up to the plate next tournament. Despite their showing last week, they'll be a force!

Bravesfan, have you tried looking at some kids from the Asian Pacific? Some nasty pitchers in this age group, may benefit you more! Keep those big boys from Florida off stride!

Astros are a very good team. Middle infield needs to work on footwork and turns. They are AAA right now based on my observations but in a month if they profgress as planned they will be full major and my prediction is they will be in the top two in GA by the end of spring.

Thanks coach for the chat you are a class act and I know you will stay focused. Go Astros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you that the name carries weight. But the kids do not feel that burden. We all put too much emphasis on the travel ball game or else we all would not be on here. You are right we will look back and say what the &@@*.

I can say this in covering the Lake City SNIT at all age levels. The Astros will be a great team. They just need a bit of time. Great group of boys and very well mannered. This stems from the parents who were a delight and in interviewing thousand of parents at the 12u level that is not always the case. They are focused on getting their kids to the large field and did not seemed too concerned with the Championship. I heard development a lot in their vernacular. Was very refreshing. In addition, the Stealth dad I interviewed after losing to Team Florida was a delight. That bodes well for the respectfulness of what I see as Georgia baseball.

I think all right minded parents should see that baseball is at hand at 12u and beyond and it is not measured in wins and loses but in development and enjoyment of the moment.

Same with the chat in the 11u age group about the Astros. It's crazy the things being discussed there. I think us parents will look back 5 years from now and ask ouselves "what were we thinking?"

It's not about expectations! What it's really about is a team that got a automatic birth to the TBS tournament at the end of the season that supposedly is ONLY having THE TOP 16 teams in the nation play in. Clearly, from all the feed back I'm reading they're not a top 16 team in the nation. In fact, they may not even make the top 32?? I think there's going to be a lot of resentment towards them because they haven't earned a birth to anything? Many other teams have traveled and played hard to get there record.

Flabb, I disagree with you in saying they look like a AAA team now but will be a major team in a month. This team has been together since late summer last year. If there not major by now I don't no what will change magically in one month? I'm surprised they're playing in a AA/AAA tournament? They do have a lot of talented players on the team. I guess time will tell.

I was not suggesting that the Astros can't live up to the expectations or are not a Majors team. I haven't seen them play and was looking forward to it. I was simply curious as to why they would travel 6 hours for a SNIT and not across town for the biggest one, especially when they are also signed up for the Alabama, Tennessee and Gulf Shores SNITs. It's probably a genius strategy keeping his team away from the local scrutiny. That being said we all face it week after week so it would be nice if they would jump in the fire with us. It's still early though. I guess ????

The competition they saw this past weekend was my view on what will make them better. They saw the speed of some Florida teams and the great footwork and fundamentals of teams from all around. They have the tools and despite being together for a long period of time it take time to gel. That is why there is spring training in the show..

I have been covering baseball for 15 years and I hope I can pick out a team that will wind up one of the best by seasons end.

Alrighty, enough about a team thats not even playing in the event. They'll clean house and go unscored on in the TC event and all "should" be fine in the clubhouse, move on.

I know where Ill be Friday night at 9:30, Watching the big fella against CFGators. Heard he threw a no hitter against the Ga Grays last week which has never been done to my knowledge and we all know what type of team the GG's are, top 5 in Ga IMO, plus he hit a few bombs.

Folks are the Astros over hyped? Absoutely..and by they way it's the people on this board that are the ones pushing all the hype. Will the Astros be a good team this year? Odds are that they will be...they have good talent, good coachng and great training facilities...no reason to believe they won't be.

How about let's just wait and see how the season plays out.

Yeah the big fella was bringing it also!!! I think he may have caught the Grays at a good time being it was their first games . It will be interesting to see how he does with teams with a few games under their belts. There are few good pool match ups...... and then some have cake walks through their pools. Should be an interesting weekend!

So is the big fella the most dominate pitcher you've seen Glenn? IMO, Grays are between 6-10 in state, too many other teams that I think are better.

Georgia Teams went South to the north florida super NIT and didn't fair so well. Will the Florida teams travel to North Georgia and the Super NIT and take home the hardware?

A Florida team may win it but based on the number of teams that are playing and the format there is a good chance a GA team will win it.

Thanks JMO, our coach just sent out an email saying we were backing out of the Super NIT because nobody has a shot except CFG. I think that's a little harsh, I think you have shot to make it to Sunday, you should to go 2-1 in pool D. Have some faith my man. BELIEVE

A head's up for anyone playing tonight, Obama is flying in to Hartsfield for fundraising and will cause a traffic nightmare. Better to leave a little early.

Here's what was on the AJC:
Presidential visit, presidential traffic
President Barack Obama will be in Atlanta on Friday, and that could mean a traffic nightmare on the city’s Southside for early rush hour. Obama has a fundraiser scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Tyler Perry Studios, 2769 Continental Colony Parkway SW. The White House, citing security concerns, will not publicly release the president’s travel plans. But any route from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to the studios would likely involve I-285 or I-85, as well as surface streets. Traffic along those roads will be blocked for the president’s motorcade.
