Newsflash! Not sure if tourney director has it posted correctly or not, but the Bandits lost their first game of the season in a Super NIT in Florida to Team Florida. Score is reported as 10-3 in favor of Team Florida.
As of right now, there is no score posted for the Bandits second game against the Upper Deck team from IL.
Wonder what happened? Perhaps Papa or someone else from the Bandit camp can give us some insight? Is this some kind of devious strategy by the master Roberson? Or did they simply get outplayed today by a solid Team Florida team? |

It is true. The boys rebounded well and beat the Upper Deck Cougars 7-0 in the second pool game though. The game vs Team Fl was not a complete surprise to us. Too many walks by our squad to beat a good team like Team FL. A lot of rust in all aspects of the game really. Hopefully, they will be ready to win three in a row tomorrow. |

The Upper Deck Cougars have an impressive looking record espcially for a northern team :-) It looks like the Bandits gave them their first loss |

Glad to see the Bandits win game number 2! BH is probably right. Bandits just a little rusty and need to get a game or two under their belts before they get back in game shape! Good luck Bandits!! |

Ya'll leave papa along, some times when a 13 old is put out there that they can't be beat and that they are the best in the country.A loss right out of the gate is the best thing to wake them up and put everything and everyone back to the real world of baseball. And we know that in the world of baseball, anything can happen at any time. That is why we all play the game and enjoy seeing our kids play. But give the Bandits credit, they loss the first battle, but at the end they won the war. I think the East Cobb Astros found out why we play the game too. Good luck to everyone the rest of the year. |

moss21: Fill us in on what happened with the Astros. I didn't know that they were playing this weekend. I heard that they would be playing up for the first few tournaments. |

I think that we will all agree that the time of any one team dominating is over. The bigger fields have opened up an entire new level to the game and so many things other than having more stud players than your opponent are beginning to rear their ugly head. The game has changed and the team that adapts best to the bigger fields and adapts its field strategy will be the team that wins more than it loses but the day of the sports headline results reading the same over and over is "OVER". And that goes for my Bandits as well as it goes for the Astro's or any other team. I think that we are ready for the challenge and can't wait for the competition to begin. |

Still a believer n the Bandits. No telling what you could do if you had ECB resources. |

The ECB Tournament was a decent opening tournament. You could definitely tell that this was a first tournament for a majority of these teams. Alot of rust! The Titans lost to Homeplate twice, by scores of 3-0 and 5-4, good close games. The Astros you could tell were rusty, they are big and powerful and after that rust gets knocked off, watch out they will be a team to deal with. Titans started looking good in our 2nd game against the ECB Luck, our bats came alive and we rang up 19 runs. But then in Bracket play the chilidogs bit us again and we lost 5-4. Good weekend of baseball, even if it was like playing in Alaska (extremely cold with the wind)Congrats to the Homeplate kids, they earned that championship. The Titans are now off to Mississippi next weekend, Gulfport Spring Super NIT. |

The first tournament is always the hardest as the Bandits found out last year. You all know that I have been consistent in saying the hardest thing to beat in baseball is the game itself and with the kids being bigger and the mounds and bases being longer the game of baseball can really rear its ugly side. It's early and there is a long season ahead but I can bet that we all agree that we are glad that that we have finally started.
Papa was chewing one of our guys out (in a very sweet way) for getting thrown out at third attempting to stretch a double into a triple and he was trying to explain to me what happened. He looked me right in the eye and said at first he just thought that he was just not as fast as he was last year but I after I reminded him that the bases were 10' further back he back pedaled and said that in that case it was Coach Troy's fault because he didn't tell him the bases were further apart. Guess which one? |
