ONE Way

I do not see it as trophy hunting when the majority of the teams are high AAA and major.

Braves and Phillies in the Ship!

question is will anybody give the braves a good game? stars and select are almost new teams that will need time to gel and improve and you never know which phillies team will show up. but you know what, you can't beat the price of this one unless they are charging $15 at the gate!

It is comical to me the low AAA and high AAA as well as low major and high major terms.

I saw Smash which everyone considered a low AAA team crush the Longhorns in a tourney this past fall. Everyone considered the Longhorns one of the top major teams.

Braves are obviously on top, and let's see if anyone can take over.

Yeh,Lets be real Oneway. Don't know if you have a team in this or not but you sound pretty upset about the major teams in this for some reason. One post you call them majors then the next you say theyre only low AAA. Are you saying the Select,Phillies and Stars are AA-low AAA at best? A little early to know what any of these teams have. If you ask them, I bet they'd say they're better off than last year.I don't think anyone's trophy hunting in a free tourny. Get real.

Do you win trophies in free tournaments? One way sounds like he has an axe to grind. Don't worry the Astros season will start soon. You guys at ECB sound crazy.

JMO,

just curious, why do you feel low AAA, high AAA, low major and high major are comical? A low AAA team beating a major happens from time to time and a low AAA losing 18-1 to a major team happens from time to time too.

What separates them is can they do it on a consistent basis. In other words, if a low AAA had to play only AAA teams can they finish with an overall record of .500 or better? If not then they are a low AAA team, if they win at a .600 rate then they are a high major team. Now, trying to categorize them before playing a game in a new season is comical, let them play 12-15 games then we will know more about each team. JMHO

So then where would you categorize an EC 12u "Major"(apparently) that loses to an EC 11u major? Which happened this past week.

My opinion is that you have 5-7 truly major teams. Then you have all the rest of the major and most of the AAA teams that are all about the same. Some a little better, and some a little worse. Good stuff Pappi, let the season and all the madness begin.

Long live the Newt?

Newt,

This no ordinary 11U team, they would only be considered an underdog to maybe 2 12U major teams in the state imho.

And JMO, I agree with your comment regarding there only being 5-7 top level major teams. The playing field between the rest is very small, even when considering the top AA type teams.

He is 100% right. I feel confident my team could beat the braves, but it might be 1 out of 30 times. We had them beat for 3 innings in the fall and then we crumbled. That is the difference between a AAA team and a Major team. The elite teams are more polished. I tell my kids this all the time. There is no real skill difference between them and a major team player. The major player knows what to do in every situation, doesn't play with any fear, and is consistent. The major teams could have a bad day and a good AAA team has to have a great day to win, but it does and will happen from time to time. One strong pitching performance changes everything.

Pappi, Didn't you say that trying to catergorize these teams before they play a few games would be comical. But then you said there are only 5-7 major teams and the rest are comparible with each other from AA TO low major? In your opinion, who are your top 5-7 teams?

WGT,

Yes it is too early to tell and that is why I haven't listed any teams, obviously the Braves and Stealth will be there but the next few needs to played out on the field. And those two teams need to prove they belong as everyone is gunning for em.

Looks like the Phills would have been the #1 seed and oneway's prediction of a braves/phillies fianls might have come true. Very impressive pool play games for a AAA team to beat 2 major squads in the Stars and ECB Select while only giving up 1 run overall.

Is this team legit or are the other teams still trying to feel their way around??

It would have been nice to see that Phillies / Stars game go at least 4 innings. I believe the Stars had bases loaded with no outs when people started asking the ump to end the game on the time limit. I would have liked to see that inning get finished. It didn't look like the Select had much of an answer for the Phillies though. The Phillies do look like a really good team, saw some good sportsmanship out of those kids too.

Wouldn't they finish the inning after the time limit? I have heard of games stoping mid inning, but it has never made sense to me.

Not sure how a game would be stopped in the middle of an inning unless the winning team was home and they were batting. ATLawman, are you saying they stopped this game while the Stars were threathening to score some runs?
