In looking at all the posts for tryouts for upcoming 10u teams, I have seen a number of new ECB teams showing up. With this many teams, how many will actually be good? And if there are only a couple of good teams out there, where does that put east cobb these days. Is it losing its prestige by allowing just anyone to play there regardless of talent? |

IMO ... As long as the Astros keep winning national championships, ECB will not lose their prestige. |

Define a good team. My definition is a coach/coaches who commit to developing the players on the team and not calling in a ringer to win a tournament. A team that improves over the course of the season, being better at the end than they were at the start, that is a good team.
Who cares how many games a team wins or loses? What happens if your kid is the last player on the premier ECB team? Sure his team may win a bunch of games and several championships but how much playing time will your kid get? Will he develop as a player? Maybe.
Some of the 10U ECB teams were very good at developing the players they had. That is where I believe prestige comes from, not wins.

Great question "THE COACH",
From what I know - 9u Longhorns become Astros - Very Good/successful team - probably 10Kids locked in - 9u Braves become 10U Braves - Very good/successful team - probably 10 kids locked in - 10u Team Reebok - Some 9u Yankees but not sure? - 10U Titans - Blend of boys. Paid coach - 10u Colts - ?

Enine, I get what you are saying and agree that teams should strive to grow and develop kids and those that do will be successful. However, if you think about East Cobb, the name carries with it a sense of pride that you are at an elite level of baseball. If you start allowing any team into the organization, then you are taking away from what is suppose to be a select group of elite teams. I understand maybe three teams per age division, but when you get up to what could be double digits, then that becomes a little too much, and starts to look more like rec ball. |

With the growth of travel ball in general I believe ECB had to change with the times. They need the numerous teams at varying skill levels (AA-Elite) to keep the flow of kids attending their fundraiser/tryouts. How many do you see showing up if there were only a few spots on a few elite teams.
Regarding rec ball, I'm not sure when you last saw a rec game but I can't imagine any ECB team resembling a rec team. I need to rec at your park this Fall!!

Coach Shook is coaching Team Reebok so I believe this will become one of the more "elite" teams at ECB. Where is this team getting their players from? |

So do those interested contact Shook (if so what is his contact info) or Tumlin who is listed on the blog? Is Tumlin going to be one of the coaches? |

Shook is the rising 10U, Tumlin is the rising 11U for Reebok. Save the elite status until some games have been played. :-) |

Sorry about that. I agree on the elite status. We are all batting 1000 and have a perfect record right now. |

ECB will always remain at the top as long as they have the best facilities (period). |

ECB getting watered down. Parent's bringing their kids over there for the "culture" to find out it's duluted talent. Some great teams over there, but when you have 8+ teams in most age groups, the talent is diluted. Fields= A+ Operations= A+ Getting a jersey because it says ECB on it= Questionable |
