Found this interesting...if you look at Power rating not points then you get a little better idea of better rankings-however-if you look at some of the teams listed in the upper end, and look at some of the teams they beat, many of those teams don't have great "in class" records. So..my point is don't let a "number" decide on who's the BEST. A better look at who's done well, is to look at how many tournaments that were won playing "top" teams. Elite 32 should be very interesting-especially with every teams "pick up players" The list is merely a List not exactly accurate for picking the best. This tournament will come down to who's on with pitching and timely hits. |

Who is the best 12U team in America? We all know its the Bandits. Who is #1 ranked in USSSA's 12U Major power rankings? Bandits. Coincidence?
The USSSA power rankings are the best Nationally used math model I know of, and maybe the only one out there. I know that TBS site ranks teams but not sure how they do it.
Problem is with USSSA's math model, a team has to play quite a number of games in his own age and class level for the model to become accurate. It stinks with anything less than 6 games played. The more a team plays, the more accurate it becomes.
It also has Regional limitations. A Major team from Utah is not the same level as a Major team from Georgia.
Of course, it only looks at USSSA play. Major drawback.
Now, the USSSA points, that is almost meaningless, so far as rating teams goes.
When 10U and 12U teams are preparing to go to Cooperstown, or just after they get their pool draws, almost all of them go to the USSSA web site to see how their opponents are classified, and how they've fared. Lots of people look at the Power Ratings, but not many care about points. un

actual it could be just a coincidence because in 13U the top several teams in GA have all beat each other. Astros, HP, Braves, Pride, RR etc. have all traded off on wins/loss You still have to consider a teams record by the level of other teams your playing. I was also referring to the Elite 32 13U list not 12u.

It's not that I don't like them, I use common sense and don't pay attention to them. They mean absolutely nothing...They are used for seeding in USSSA tournaments and that is it. These rankings get no national respect at all...If you look, Usssa actually uses the seedings in a tie breaker situation. Now how fair is that, you get rewarded just because you play more Usssa tournament than another team??? And yes, the Bandits are the #1 12u team in the country. It really is common sense, look at some of the teams that are ranked higher then some of the better teams, and it is only because of Usssa games played. It actually is pretty sad... |

Actually the coaches poll in USSSA is the closest to be right, minus the #1 currently listed....Not exactly sure how that happened...But the rest seem to fall into place correctly... |

Perfect example. We, the Roadrunners, are a combined 22-5 vs teams ranked higher than us in USSSA...But because these games were not played under the USSSA umbrella, those games mean nothing in the rankings. I think if ranking 8-13 year old kids nationally is so important to you grown men, then ALL games need to be taken into consideration somehow...The current system is flawed... |

Power rankings are the only one you can judge teams on.... Points are bad, based off number of usssa tournaments you have played in, and coaches poll is a joke...... |

Just watching some of the quotes is hilarious, obviously people like the systems that their team is ranked higher...Here is the thing, DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHAT YOUR LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM IS RANKED NATIONALLY?????? I don't ever remember seeing under someone's name in the major leagues...Chipper Jones batting .300 24hr 89rbi and also was on the #1 team in the country when he was 12????? |

Negative ghostrider. The best 12U team in America was the Banditos Black from TEXAS and they proved it at NYBC |

BRH3, I think this topic has 30 pages on TBS. Good debate either way. Body of work or one tournament. Argument works both ways. I would agree with another post, I would take the Bandits original roster over any original roster in the country...
No pick ups, no adds, same roster from day 1......
You will have a hard time with that one.
No disrespect to Banditos..Great team...No doubt.... |
