Does anyone know how many 2012 ECB 11U teams there will be? With 3 weeks left before the official tryout I'm surprised there are not more workouts being promoted. So far there are half as many 2012 11U teams as there are 2012 12U teams.
I think the following 10U teams will be moving up to 11U.
Mudcats Hurricanes Titans Yankees Astros Longhorns
Anyone have a better source of information? |

Not sure if the Longhorn name will be there for 2012. They are becoming the 11U Astros. |

Im glad ECB is making this change for the 2011-2012 season. That name should go to the best team at each age group. I never understood why the Longhorns didnt get it for 10u. |

Not to familiar with ECB program but we've played against Longhorns in Orlando (9U) and in Cooperstown this year and where very impressed both times!!!!! Solid team..... to me Longhorns is a pretty intimidating name. lol |

That was a concern of the 10U Longhorns. They have ALOT of equity built in their name nationwide. But they deserve the Astro name and I am very happy it was given to them. I feel sorry for any team they face that does not do their homeowrk or think they are playing the old 10U Astros. They will have their eyes opened. :) |

As I have said in the past- My son does not play for the Longhorns/Astros. He is not playing with them this year either. I am actually surprised to see them posting tryouts, I thought they had everyone they needed. It's not hard to see a top quality staff of coaches and players. And if the Astros ever asked my son to join, he would jump at the chance to play with those kids and for those coaches. |

I thought this topic was asking about how many teams there will be at the 11U level for East Cobb. |

Well we now know Longhorns will be the Astros and I think the 10u Astros will now be the Grays. I also saw a post for an 11u Team Reebok, any others? |

Old Astros will be the Dodgers. New Astros/Longhorns will have several new faces and coaches. Will lose some of the good hitters. Interesting to see where the ones that left will pop up outside of ECB. |

So it looks like 7 teams with a little more than a week to go. I'm assuming that the teams will play the same level as they did in 10U. Looking at USSSA site:
Longhorns/Astros - Major Mudcats - Major Yankees - Major Astros/Dodgers - AAA Hurricanes -AAA Titans - AA Reebok - ? |

Having played or seen all of these teams last year (except Reebok), I would categorize them like this for 2011-2012:
Astros (former Longhorns) - High Major Mudcats - Major Yankees - Major?? (depends on how many kids return from 10u) Dodgers (former Astros) - AAA last year, targeting Major this year Hurricanes - AAA Titans - listed as AA, but were an AAA team. Should be AAA at 11u. Reebok - ?? (new team, no clue) |

Reebok was SBA Scorpions last year. Don't know how many players they are bringing with them though. |

Expect to see several players moving from team to team within the last yrs ECB 10u. It will not surprise me to see a min. 4-6 new smiling faces per team on each last yrs. 10u ECB teams. Astros not excluded. Same thing going on in 11u. Grass is greener, want a change, or want a new coach for what ever reason. I dont see how the top teams will be better than last yr. I do see the lower teams being better than last yrs. teams. |

Any news on new 643 pickups for the Cougars? That team should be locked by now. |

There is a lot of shuffling of teams as East Cobb at this age group for 2012. Some teams will benefit from this shuffling and some teams might be diluted. It will be interesting to see how it plays out next year.
Astros (former Longhorns) - Losing some kids and gaining some new talent but will still be strong Titans - AAA/Major - Gaining several top notch kids and will improve next year Mudcats - AAA/Major - Keeping the core and gaining some new Hurricanes - AAA - Also gaining some new talent. Yankees - TBD. Re-building the team and still to be determined Dodgers (former Astros) - TBD Reebok - TBD. |

So with the ECB Yankees not materializing, there really aren't many roster spots available at 11U. The Astros roster will certainly have been filled by invitation only, as you would expect from an elite caliber team. The Mudcats and Hurricanes returned most of their kids and should have filled their few remaining slots by now. Many of the Yankees have migrated over to the Titans leaving few, if any, positions. The new Dodgers team only needed 2 players by the time they were announced and will most likely be full by the weekend. This leaves only Team Reebok as the wildcard with certainly not more than 4-5 spots.
So for the entire 11u group of teams at ECB, you are probably looking at less than 8 total spots. I kept thinking that more teams would form for 11u but that doesnt appear to be happening. I dont see many new teams forming elsewhere so where did everyone go?? |

I really hope no one is scared off by your message, because we're not full yet, and look forward to seeing more players over the weekend at the ECB tryouts |

That is the question. 643 got one Lefty Yank. NCobb got one. Yanks/Longhorns... if you coach nothing but diamonds it is hard to rebuild in one season. Think it will take two. Going to be interesting to see were old Longhorns/Astros pop up. Its like the old saying "You never know what you got till its gone." |

I'm thinking that all the ECB teams excluding the Longhorns/Astros will need a few players. My estimate is about 15 open positions for those 5 teams. I'm curious to know how many kids show up this weekend with so few spots available.
One thing for sure, there will be plenty of good players looking for teams after this weekend. I expect to see non ECB coaches looking to fill their rosters this weekend. :-)

Sorry, 12u Coach. My intent was not to scare anyone away. It was merely to inquire that with so few openings at ECB, where was everyone going?? There were around 10 teams at 11u for the 2010-2011 season and I thought there would be that many this year.
I concur with Enine that there will be lots of good players looking for teams after this weekend. |

Haven't most parents already sent in their tryout money so they get the discount? It would be foolish to spend that money and now decide not the come because you think the teams are full. Have your son go out there and out-hustle the others. He will turn some heads and possibly make a team or atleast get on the radar. |
