I guess we'll find out who the top dogs are at east cobb this week. But i was a little disappointed to hear the astros aren't taking it seriously. Predictions anyone?

Astros are using their pitchers but all players in the field are 12U Astros. Braves beat them 12-0 yesterday then run-ruled the Extreme 13-1.

Extreme pulled off what most would consider an upset yesterday, beating the 45s 4-3 in a very good baseball game. I had a chance to watch the last 4 innings of that game...very fun game to watch.

If the Astros keep doing what they did yesterday, I'll predict the Braves and Extreme to advance out of that bracket. It will be interesting though to see what happens in the Braves vs 45s game on Wednesday afternoon. To my knowledge, the 45s are 3-0 versus the Braves this season, accounting for 3 of the Braves' 8 losses on the season.

In the other bracket, I would expect the Pride to be the top seed and the Titans to be the #2 seed. The Longhorns could be a factor if they throw their 2 big lefies against the Titans. If those 2 are on their game, that game could go either way.

In the semis, I predict Braves versus Titans and Pride versus Extreme. In the finals, I pick the Braves over the Pride.

Saw a lot of the games yesterday and of those--JMHO--butthe most interesting game was 45's vs Yankees. 45's got the win 6-5 but it was a hard fought battle.

Looks like the Braves are run ruling all the teams. My guess is the Braves and Pride in the finals.

I don't think anyone is taking this tournament seriously. Most are looking at these games as scrimmages

I have to disagree with you on that. The only team I see not taking this seriously are the Astros since they are playing the 12U Astros in the field and using their 2nd tier 13U pitching. None of their top dog players are even dressing out for this tourney.

45's are taking it serious--from what I witnessed from their coaches on Monday-- when the Extreme beat them and then the Yankees almost did the same thing.

KC...So can I assume you have some inside information that the Astro's are only going to play the 12U Astro's & the 2nd Tier 13U pitching staff within this Tourney? as you mentioned above. I hope that is not the case. And back to Darnell I can tell you that the 45s were playing to win especially after pitching their top pitchers against the Braves today!

I just witnessed a game between the Astros and 45's. Looks like Astros are pitching and now catching their 13u kids. 12's are playing all field positions and batting.
Astros win 6-5...

The .45s did some odd things in this tournament. They lost to the Extreme minus there leadoff and 3 hole guys. Later they almost faltered against the AA yanks needing a last inning hr to get through. Today they throw their best three but didn't play the usual combo. I don't know what to say about the 12 u game but id say they had to be scrimmaging because they didn't play to win all week, And darnell your spot on they threw about 4 kids I've never seen pitch. Should be interesting to follow them this weekend and see if this continues.

You are correct the 45s played hard in the Braves game. Most who saw the game understand it was very close and unfortunately decided by questionable umpiring. Nevertheless congrats to the Braves. But you are sadly mistaken if you think the other games were played at full strength. Kids played in positions they have never been in before. They had fun and got some work in prior to this weekends tournament

The 45s were playing to win all week long. Don't make excuses. They didn't have their leadoff hitter versus the Extreme because he lives in Warner Robins and couldn't drive up for the game on Monday but they threw 2 of their better pitchers against the Extreme. It wasn't their 1 or 2 but they were quality pitchers nevertheless.

I had a chance to watch the end of the Astros - 45s game and all of the Astros - Extreme game tonight. The 45s had a 5 - 1 lead that quickly became 5-3 and later 5-5. Once that happened and the game reached the last inning, the 13U players started playing. The Astros SS scored the winning run on a play at the plate to win the game.

Against the Extreme, they started 3 of their 13U players and by the 3rd inning had 5 in the game. By the end of the game 7 13U players were playing in various positions and in the batting order. That was a fun game to watch with some nice plays and some really nice pitching by Astros and Extreme pitchers. The game ended in a 7-7 tie after 6 due to time limit but the Extreme advance because they had given up fewer earned runs in the tournament. This is the best I've seen the Extreme play this year. Their defense has really improved and they've had pretty good pitching all along. Should be a fun test to see how they do against the Pride hitters on that small field #6 tomorrow night.

Not sure why the 45's would play like they are in a scrimmage?? I saw what the Astros were doing, but don't get that either. I don't understand why top teams don't play to win in every tournament. I am just glad to see the Braves are always out there to win. Maybe they are the true #1 at ECB. Before anyone starts assuming I am with the Braves, I am NOT!

Saw it tonight against the Extreme...By the end of the game, Astros had used 7 of their regular 13 year olds from what i understand. (Not all at the same time..Combination of pitching, catching, SS)...they hit as well. It was mostly the 12s, with a sprinkling of 13s. Good game to watch.

How many coaches did the 45's have in the dugout? I seem to remember a similar drop-off for the Whitesox last year when highschool ball ended and the payed coaches left to coach their older teams.

From what I saw--45's had 4 coaches at each game. blowncall--was curious-looked up the yanks and they are aaa. My prediction still stands to see Braves and Pride in the ship, with Braves the champs. Any different predictions?

All of the 45 coaches were there, including the paid coaches. 5 in all, I think.

I also think all the teams played hard. The braves look to be the best at 13s. They took care of business all week. If the astros did use 12s in the games and 13s later, so be it. They still fielded a team to win. Alot of controversy in this one, 45s included. Lost to the extreme and from what parents were saying they almost lost to the yankees and they used a 12 yr old pitcher from boston. From what I saw the Braves are the top dog at 13u

I will try this one more time. The 45s were missing their leadoff and 3 hole hitters on Monday. Both kids offered to come but are recovering from injuries so we gave them extra time off. Our three hole hitter had 1 at bat all week. Our 5/6 pitcher started the Extreme game for 2 innings and handed over the reins to kids that had never thrown for the team before. They all threw well so mission accomplished. Three kids threw the Yankees game that had never before pitched for the team. Again mission accomplished. Those same kids threw in the Astros game and were caught for 3 innings by a kid that had never put shin guards on before. All in all the kids had fun, no one got hurt and we didn't have to burn innings on our top pitchers which is important in light of having a double header Friday and Saturday. I can't speak for the other teams but we took the week lightly because we want our players to be fresh going into the home stretch. We expect to play 30 games in the next 30 or so days and that's going to be tough with a small roster. Regarding the comment relating to our coaching staff, as planned far in advance, one did return to the 16U Astros at the beginning of May, otherwise its the same group.

I love the attitude that the Braves play with. They're a respectful team but at the same time their not scared too bow their neck and get in your face. If i was going to pick a team from ECB to watch, its most enjoyable to watch the Braves
