Is it me or does this year USSSA 10U AAA tournaments seem few and far between? Seems like AA ball is always loaded with teams but AAA seems non-existent. You eitehr play in an open or major because teams are just not signing up to play USSSA in the AAA division in Georgia. Am I wrong? |

Quite a few teams moved from 9U AA to 10U majors this year. There isn't a 9U AAA division, and if I remember correctly there were only 10-12 9U open division teams last year, compared to the 30 or so 10U major teams this year. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but there are a LOT less 10U AAA teams than there were 9U AA teams last year, or 10U AA this year. |

in NC and SC we've struggled with that all year - you have legitimate AA teams, then you have AAA/Major level programs sandbagging to chase trophies - you know, register as AA, run off some ridiculous scores against AA teams, and then mysteriously get moved up to AAA about 1/2 way through the year, or continue to sandbag and stay down.
We have alot more teams play Nations here. For Nations, Majors= Premier, AAA = Elite and AA= Select.
We have AAA teams registered as select teams with Nations, we have all kinds of things - we had a Premier team with Nations downgrade to Elite so they can play Select level teams when they play up at 11u.
We just had a Premier Level team register as AA and play a tournament with USSSA - when a few of us coaches brought this up to the TD, he simply said they asked to do so because they were struggling!!! So they register as AA to beat up on some weak teams... Amazing |
