The only thing this early-season has taught me is - there are a TON of good teams out there, and many of them can beat anybody on any given day when their team is on - this includes some AA teams. So far, I've seen West Forsyth, the Buzz, RBI Rangers, Copperheads, East Cobb Braves, East Cobb Longhorns, Acworth Warriors, Cherokee Reds, North Georgia Renegades, OP Sharks, Dallas Tigers, Powder Springs Indians, Ga Bandits, (I'm sure I'm forgetting someone) all look like world-beaters on occassion. I'm proud my son is able to compete in an age-group with this many good teams in it.

baldy87, I couldn't agree more. The talent at this age group this year is amazing. I think it will be interesting to see as the year goes on which teams are able to grow the most by July

I agree with you too! We, Dallas Tigers, have seen and played some really talented teams this year so far. And the kids just keep growing because of it. It is so fun to watch all these teams grow and get better. This is going to be a fun year for sure!!!

No clear winner but it comes down to Tournament wins. So Far its
EC Longhorns 1
EC Braves 2
Acworth 1
Reds 1
Renegades 1
Intresting how all 5 teams are within 10 or less miles of each other. Bunch of talent in that part of the state.

Let's not forget, the Buzz have won two USSSA tourneys in either North Georgia or Tennessee, plus at least one other one that wasn't USSSA. Dallas Tigers won a USSSA tourney last week. Backyard Boyz out of Macon won two early USSSA tourneys. It's just incredible to me how many really strong teams are out there.

Great, great baseball in the area.

I think most agreed, preseason, the Longhorns were the team to beat.

Then I saw the Reds take down the Longhorns, just an amazing ball game.

Then I hear this weekend NGRenegades take them down.

And let me tell you, this Longhorns team is no fluke. They are LOADED, and very well coached.

Anyone know where NGR is from?

It is hard to leave the Buzz off this list. They have only one loss in their age group to a very good WF Diamond Dawg team. They beat the NG Renegades twice in a non USSSA tournament to start the year. And they held their own against some good 10 major teams in a 10U tournament.
I totally agree that there is some amazing talent in the age group and so concentrated in the North GA area. I’m not sure there is as much talent anywhere else in the country.

Triple Crown has one opening left for their Back to School tournament coming up in two weeks. It has some very good competition in it. The Raiders are one of three teams that are penciled in. I believe the first to pay gets in. I hope the Raiders get in.

It's awesome to see you all play a lot head to head. Down here in Florida its hard to get teams together to play unless they are in the same region......

The Raiders who lost to the wolfpack and the Longhorns? I think we need to wait and see before crown the 9U champs.

Colonial the renegades are from Canton area. Very talented team with 2 strong pitchers. But for my money the Buzz is team to beat 4 strong pitchers and good bats with speed. Bats allow them to save strong pitchers until Sunday bracket play. Look forward to the TC backyard brawl to hopefully see where everyone stacks up. Harper nice job this past weekend.

Don't forget about the Gwinnett teams..Mill Creek, Dacula, North Gwinnett all solid teams that would hang with any Cobb team.

I had a chance to watch most of the games at the atl SNIT and I have to say the Raiders are still the team to beat. My god-son plays 12U and he loves watching those boys play. As far as what Cumming Baseball says, I believe the Raiders beat the Longhorns. I was on TravelBall Select and some of the best 9U teams have been beaten by the Raiders. Dothan, TN Rangers, ECB Longhorns. Cumming, you may wanna check out the Yard Dogs and Raiders more closely because they would beat up on any of those teams up in the Cobb or North areas. I would take those two team with the 8U Atl Angels and put my money that they would beat the best teams from Acworth to Cumming.

Wait a minute I believe the only tournament the Longhorns,Raiders and the Yard dogs were in the Longhorns came out on top? The Atlanta Angels are very good team and would dominate the 8U field but they have yet to win a tournament at the 9U level.

It's all about tournament wins. Who goes home with the gold. I saw possibly the best picther at the 9U level pitch for the Longhorns against the Reds and lost. I think the talent is great everywhere but pound for pound and playing on a field thats 200+ feet the best baseball is in the north.

I dont have a team or 9year old in the fight. I just love watching baseball and I just like the way the Raiders play. I saw them play the Longhorns twice in the Blue Jay classic. they each won a game. The other team tht was impressive was the Copperheads in the SNIT. I still think this age group comes down to Longhorns and Raiders. Too much talent! a team may upset them but top to bottom they have the most talent. Cumming, i have to politely disagree. The best baseball is in the South. I just love that the state of Georgia can put up the best talent in the country!!!

Huge congratulations to the Longhorns for winning the Triple Crown event this past weekend. Didn't get to see the games, but any team that, in one day, beats the Braves, Copperheads, and Diamond Dawgs deserves some huge kudos. That's topping three of the best teams around in a single day, not to mention a field that also included the Buzz, Raiders, and Acworth Warriors. Great job, Longhorns.
