Thanks, Crushed! Very good team you have there! We dodged a bullet that game for sure. Thanks for the kind words from everyone else as well. We were very fortunate to make it that far. We had played poorly all year until that weekend, and something simply clicked. Hope it is a sign of things to come. Thanks again.

m72, background for you. We are an aspiring AAA team. We played 8 games prior to this weekend, all against AAA/Major teams. We went 1-6-1. We did not plan to play the SNIT. We scheduled a DH instead. When that fell through at the very last second, we had no choice but to register for the SNIT. By that time the AAA field was full. So, we could have sat at home this weekend or played in the AA division, which is where USSSA chose to place us anyway based on last year's performance. And, based on our on-field performance the first 8 games, we were appropriately slotted in AA. Obviously, we played better this past weekend. Our success this weekend was less about playing AA teams and more about our kids buying in to some things we've been working on. We've worked very hard on our deficiencies, and it just paid off.
The problem we have is we are a classic tweener. Better than most AA teams. Worse than most AAA teams. I can say with 100% conviction that we are not a hardware-chasing team. That we won some this weekend was a bonus. Our coaches and parents are more happy that our boys showed they're a little closer to fulfilling their potential than they are that we now have to find a place to put those plaques.

Andy, you have no need to explain. Awesome weekend enjoy it.
Coach T, I loved our game yesterday. I tell my boys that I never hate losing when you play your best and both our teams played their best.
great tournament...I hope to see you all soon....Mike |

Andy, oparrow is right. No need to explain because I didn't ask you to. I congradulated you on winning it. Sorry if it came out the wrong way. I was really hoping we would have a chance to play you. How you ended up in the tournament doesn't matter either. I'm just saying where I think you guys could be playing and that's based on seeing you play over the past year or so which again is a compliment. Never once thought you were trying to sand bag anything. Also, I thought someone in a post somewhere had said you guys were moving to AAA or major. As we all know, sometimes scores don't tell the whole story and your record thus far this season is definately not the team I know. I'm not judging you negatively here and I definately don't think less of your team due to your season thus far. Otherwise, I wouldn't have tried to get my son a tryout with you twice, to no provail. Trust me, I mean it when I say congrats. Sorry you and others took it differently. |

Additional congrats to Andy and his Milton team. They beat us 3-1 on Sunday morning with that old classic of strong pitching and defense. They may not have played up to potential before the SNIT, but against us they were an extremely disciplined, well coached group. It was a joy to watch even from the losing side.

Andy, You're welcome. I'll just say we fell 1 game short of seeing you in the SNIT ship. I like to think I have good taste but don't get me wrong, we are very happy with where we are now. You had your chance, twice..... lol. I can't be blowing my cover on here anyway. This is the only screen name I got. Just to risky, lol. See you soon, or will I? DUM,DUM,DUM,DUM........... |
